    Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Twenty-nine

Reply # 56 Louis, these are not LK models. They are just another, dressed up alphabet washer and companion dryer. The washer doesn't have pushbuttons, just a facade that looks like it. In the line of succcession in the 1965 spring/summer catalog, these were the next step down from LK. Also...

Yes, my parents had that washer. It had an OOB with buzzer and would go oob if you looked at it cross-eyed. The companion dryer was slightly above the model in the ad-our dryer was just like this, but had a two position fabric switch to the leftof the timer dial and a 45 minute wrinkle guard...

That was our Norge washer that arrived December 23, 1963. Matcing dryer showed up sometime February 1964. The Kenmore 800 replaced the washer spring or fall of 1970. I got a GE record player for Christmas 1963 along with some 45 singles. Then there was Ed Sullivan's February 9, 1964...

How did these KA dishwashers get water to the top rack?

You had to load very carefully even though they were a hurricane in a box. Not until the 18 sesries in 1975 or 1976 did they have multilevel spray arms under the top rack. Main reason why I hated KA dishwashers. They were so arrogant until the 18 series.

Exxcept for the timer pointer dial, this is exactly like the BOL dishwasher in a small, brand new apartment complex west of the University of Texas Austin campus my sophore year 1974-1975. This model was considereably quieter than my late 1960s...
