    Kelvinator Dragon 'fridge

Got to say that thing is UGLY! I think I remember seeing a magazine ad for this back in the mid 60's. I wonder if they made any other appliances in that color to match. I didn't find any colors in the Kelvinator section of Paintref that matched it, so it must have been a very limited run.

Black Plastic Kitchen Utensils & Food Containers May Contain Toxic Chemical

Bob, does it have some type of non-stick coating? I've never scratched any of my SS cookware with the utensils.

Black Plastic Kitchen Utensils & Food Containers May Contain Toxic Chemical

Bob, white plastic is notorious for staining from tomato products. You might want to consider commercial stainless steel utensils such as Vollrath. Given reasonable care, they will last many decades.

    Doeskin BD?

Yes, those are the Toast color from the mid 1980's. If they were the Doeskin or Edged Fawn color (late 1960's), they would have the chrome plated metal handles, not matching color.

    Westinghouse Empress--1960

The 1955 Westinghouse washer my dad bought my mom at Christmas lasted until sometime in 1964. I do remember the serviceman having to visit several times over the years. One time it got so out of balance, and shook so much, that the top came loose. It also liked to walk - more than once it went...

Tupperware files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

I remember my mom having a Stanley party when I was very little. She got a cake knife and a grapefruit knife, which I still have.

    GE DW

I noticed in photo #4 where the cord is being plugged in, that there is a separate ground wire attached to the screw of the receptacle's cover plate. That would provide a ground ONLY if the box was grounded, which would only be the case if metal conduit or a cable with a grounding conductor was...

    interesting Canadian ad 1963

I remember insisting that my mom buy a box of Breeze because it had a Cannon wash cloth in it. She did so, though she didn't use the detergent for clothes, but for mopping the floors, etc. The wash cloth was just as she said it would be - very thin. Needless to say, it didn't last long. The...

Tupperware files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

We had a few pieces when I was younger, that my mom got at parties hosted by her friends or our neighbors. We had the cake carrier, pie saver, a measuring cup/pitcher, half gallon pitcher, and a couple small bowls. Interestingly enough, a couple of the neighbors never had Tupperware or other...

    1957 Home in Tallahassee, FL

After viewing it on a larger screen, I agree with Rex that the paneling is real wood planks in a some of the rooms. The ceiling in the family room is interesting. I think removing the tree would spoil much of the beauty of the property.

On the hunt for an electric percolator

I agree, Eddie. Plastic doesn't keep air out nearly as well as metal.

    1957 Home in Tallahassee, FL

The exterior reminds me of a visitor's center in a park. All that paneling on the interior makes it look like an old mobile home.

On the hunt for an electric percolator

Eddie, I've recently seen coffee in metal cans. I saw Chase & Sanborn, and also Hills Brothers packed like that. That was at Menards.

    Modern Living: Part Fifteen

There's a subdivision a couple blocks from me that was built in 1955/1956. I used to hear people refer to them as the "Ohio Homes", which I think was the developer of the area. It seems like the houses themselves were manufactured by National Homes. None of them originally had garages, some had...

    LED bulbs

I've been very pleased with the Sylvania glass LED bulbs that I bought at Menard's.

    Number PULEAZE! Part Seven:

Reply #41 When I worked at University Hospital Cincinnati in 1985, they put a new phone system in the office area I was working in. Some of the stations were like the one in Western Electric ad, with 20 button phones and the separate busy lamp field - direct station selection consoles. It was...

    Unusual Westy dryer

Nice dryer in Mint Aqua. Our first dryer was a more basic version of this in White, bought in 1963.

    wasps...

Hate them! A yellow jacket was bothering me at work yesterday. It landed on the garland I was working on, then tried to sting me. It was almost lunch time, so I went to the break room. When I returned, it had gone away. The warehouse has big overhead doors that are open when it is warm weather...

    Todays P.O.D. Blackstone

I think Blackstone was the manufacturer of the full sized Hoover washers and dryers in the 70's.

On the hunt for an electric percolator

I don't drink coffee, and don't think I even possess a coffee maker. May still have the Farberware SS pot my parents had, but no idea where it may be at this time if so. Speaking of Proctor-Silex, when my friends Fred & Donna married in October, 1974, I gave them one of the Lifelong coffee...
