We had a visit from Matty & Eliot from Australia on their tour of the UK & Europe last week, needed their fix of vintage Brit washers. Both had been born here in Yorkshire & Scotland and emigrated with their families.
Was great to catch up with Matty again & finally meet Eliot, the time flew...
Asko Asea Top Loading Washer
We have the later Asko 1200 series h-axis top loading washing machine , great machine , handles all the guest towels great , 1300 rpm spin does the job and Asko quiet as well .
English Electric wash & Rinse
Funny seeing it reversed and the wringer mechanism is rounded not squared like ours, probably probably built under license by John Inglis & Co , Toronto. Great to see these washers around the world ...
Fridgidaire Front Loader
Thats a great front loader badged Fridgidaire John, was it the large capacitor that had blown or the induction motor smoking as well ?
A very rare model , does it say Made In Germany ? first looks like an Italian model machine.
You wont find another one badged...

yes indeed it was a key part of the Reason washing machine produced 2005 but never made it into production .
The balaast tank was underneath as well as weight above , the tank filled from mains water then for wash was pumped into the drum so warming the water from cold, then...

I came across this GEC model from 1953 yearbook and was surprised , as it had different controls arrangement , all combined with the Agitator control knob , older style cabinet , have never seen one of these before ?

Yes the ridges in the lid were on the earlier models , another distinct feature

So the new plastic counterweight has to be much larger to match the weight of a traditional concrete weight - "Have they looked in an average washer / washer dryer to see how much space there is with these large drums ?
