The Only Laundry Cycle You Should Use

Reply #17 Eddie, I completely agree with you. That's the biggest reason I have the Whirlpool washer I have now. When my old one started having too many issues, I seriously considered what I would need in a machine. Did I really need the fancy more expensive LG with its many, many options? I...

The Only Laundry Cycle You Should Use

Reply #7 "But I guess anyone can be a self proclaimed "expert" today just like everyone is suddenly a "lifestyle expert" or "career coach." Don't you know anyone can be anything they want to be? All you have to do is have the dream and BAM! that wish is yours overnight. You don't need any...

The Only Laundry Cycle You Should Use

LMAO I actually saw this article a couple days ago and remember thinking oh holy sh*t, this guy's gonna be the laughing stock of AW.org as soon as a matter of days. LOL I wasn't disappointed! And I agree with everyone here, this person is a total idiot! Bulky and sanitary cycles on any washer...

    LG 3400CW washer question

Reply #11 Ah, okay, you were being a bit tongue in cheek and that went right over my head LOL. Just go on and give me the dunce cap.

    LG 3400CW washer question

Reply #6 Bob, I thought the W designation just meant the machine was a white model.

Running my VMW with the lid open

I'm wondering where I can purchase the lid lock mechanism that goes in the slot so I can run my washer with the lid open. I'd like to be able to do this in case I ever need to diagnose any issues and also it'd just be cool to be able to do it sometimes. :) However, I don't really want to unscrew...

    hey speed queen fans

Reply #6: Yeah that sounds about right when it comes to the way most people wash clothes. that machine sounds like garbage, impeller washers really are the worst choice in my opinion and I bet he doesn't load it right either. It's well known that you're supposed to load an impeller machine...

    hey speed queen fans

Speed Queen TC5 and capacity issues Since when is 3.2 cu. ft. capacity tiny? Wasn't that super capacity plus on many machines not but 15 years ago? My old direct drive Whirlpool was 3.2 cu. ft. and I never had problems doing what I would consider large loads. What on Gawd's earth are people...

    Question about BOL Washers

My in-laws used to have a BOL Amana DD washer that had a water level selector but no temperature knob. I believe the temperatures were built into the timer. I don't know the model number but they got it in the early 2000's. They replaced it with a VMW when it crapped out a few years ago.

Please help me understand whats happening in each phase of the washing cycles

So the motor is running at all times, but there's no agitation when you feel there should be? At any point on the dial where there is a number, there should be agitation. I wouldn't think if the motor is still running that it's a timer issue because the timer controls the motor to run or not...

    Warm Rinses

I don't care very much about warm rinses in spring and summer when ground water temperatures are temperate. However, right now here in Indiana tap water is ice cold, and so are my laundry rinses. My washer has a cool setting in which warm water is added to maintain a minimum temperature, but...

    modern washers and dryers rant

Reply #198 Sean, I can't say I disagree, although it did make for some entertaining reading for the last half hour or so. I truly don't understand certain people having such strong opinions about the washers/cars/computer/whatever others use. Use what makes you happy, and move on. Variety makes...

The Inevitable has happened - No more WP agitator washers...

I don't think any of the models discussed in this nearly 9-year-old thread are even being made anymore, although I do believe that shortly after this, the dual action agitator replacements to these agipeller washers came onto the market. One of these was the WTW4816FW, which I had the first...

1994 Whirlpool top load washer troubleshooting

Definitely sounds like the timer to me. Wonder if there's a way to visually inspect the timer after pulling it from the machine to make sure.

How often do you use the self clean function on your oven?

Chetlaham and Henrick This is just a classic example of some people like tech, others don't. Some people are more open to innovation. Others prefer the tried and true classics and just want to get the job at hand done. Sounds like y'all are just at complete opposite ends of that spectrum, and...

How often do you use the self clean function on your oven?

Not even sure my apartment range has a self-clean function, LOL. It's a BOL Frigidaire with knobs for each burner and one knob for the oven. Believe the only electronic part on it is the clock. I just wipe up spills when they happen, which is admittedly rare because I take care to cover dishes...

I did something I said I’d never do again — I bought a new VMW

Reply #13 Hi John, I appreciate what you are saying, but given the issues I've had off and on with laundry machines over the past couple years, this is what we all -- myself, Stacye, and my family -- decided was best. Being that Stacye and I are both disabled, the consensus was that it was in...

I did something I said I’d never do again — I bought a new VMW

Nearly two weeks in with the WTW4816FW3 and matching dryer And I still really enjoy using this set. It's been a bit of a trial and error process a couple of times...for example, I tried the deep wash on one load of last week's laundry. I thought, this will give me the performance of my old...

LG WM6998 ALL-IN-ONE HEAT PUMP COMBO

Impressive machine, but I'm with Launderess in the comment above, the price is staggeringly high. I could buy my brand new set nearly three times over for that price. Yikes! I do think that as these type of machines take off, the issue of apartments not having a washer and dryer in them will...
