Got my replacement dishwasher yesterday, GE model #GDT225SSLS

Short version for anyone not following along on my other thread regarding this issue: Old Frigidaire dishwasher began having issues a few weeks ago, cycle would run with the door open, hard water buildup had gotten terrible as well as my detergent pods weren't dissolving properly. So, apartment...

Dishwasher issue -- door switch not engaging

Maintenance man poked his head in around 5:00 this evening to tell me that they have the right size DW and he'll be installing it in the morning. Fingers crossed it goes properly this time.

Dishwasher issue -- door switch not engaging

I noticed something today... My laminate countertop can lift off the cabinetry if you lift up on the front of the countertop. Not sure if I'm explaining it right, but I wonder if someone could hold the countertop up slightly while a dishwasher is moved into place. I don't know if this would...

Dishwasher issue -- door switch not engaging

Reply #9 Thanks for that, Frigidaire is generally what they use here for all the kitchen appliances so I imagine that's what they'll end up getting me. I believe it was a Frigidaire DW they brought today, but it was 34" high and wouldn't fit into the space because I believe the counter is 33"...

Dishwasher issue -- door switch not engaging

Ugh, bad news... New DW won't fit. Apparently maintenance supervisor didn't account for this being an ADA unit when ordering the machine. Thus, it's too tall because our countertops are shorter than average. They've left the machine here and all of there crap. He says he'll be back with...

Dishwasher issue -- door switch not engaging

Lots of banging around, and the dude just said "holy shit they have me doing the craziest stuff." That's a bit scary!

Dishwasher issue -- door switch not engaging

Update Apartment maintenance is here installing new dishwasher now. I hope he does it correctly, because I can just kinda tell he's flying by the seat of his pants. I'll update again once the machine is in place and I've used it a time or two.

    Washing dishes by hand

Update... Thanks all for the responses and suggestions for how to make this dishwasher-less time more manageable. I've been washing my dishes by hand similarly to the way Eddie has described above. I do have to run the water more than I imagine he does to keep it hot, though, because our...

Kenmore washer lid leaning far back

On my TL, I just leave the lid open long enough for my last dryer load of the day to finish, that's roughly an hour. By that time the washer interior feels dry enough to close the lid, so I do. Likely you could do the same on your DD Kenmore. Ryne

JUST OUT OF THE BOX 2007 Kenmore 800's

Reply #8 Thanks John for the clarification, I'd just heard that off and on so I wasn't sure what actually happens there. Of course, I read it on the internet and everyone knows the internet tells the truth 100% of the time, LOL...

Time for a new front loader...

Samuel, congratulations on your new LG washer. Which model did you get? I wasn't aware you had a Samsung FL before, thought you had a Kenmore VMW TL. Ryne

JUST OUT OF THE BOX 2007 Kenmore 800's

I hope the seals aren't cracked/dried out from the washer sitting unused for so long.

    Detergent choices

Reply #20 Eddie, your logic of proper detergent placement in these modern TL washers is what I've always figured as well. I've lifted the washer lid during agitation occasionally, and the detergent certainly seems to be sufficiently mixed with the washwater, after putting it at the bottom of...

    Detergent choices

Reply #17 When I had my Whirlpool direct drive TL, I always started the washer filling, added detergent, and then put in the clothes. With my current TL I can't do that because the machine stops filling as soon as the lid is opened. However, I still try to do as close to that by putting...

    Washing dishes by hand

Reply #2: Hi Eddie, thanks for your response. The problem is I have to keep the rinse water going, so that I can rinse the dishes under the stream -- we only have one drain plug so can only fill one side of the sink. So, sounds like I'll just have to buy another drain plug, no biggie. Reply #6...

    Washing dishes by hand

You all might remember my post of a few weeks ago, where my dishwasher started running without latching properly. Well, it continued to work in this state for several weeks, not even leaving any water on the floor in its wake, so I kept using it, after notifying maintenance of the issue. Well...

    LG Front Washer Cycles Explained

Reply #6 John, I totally agree with you! All these minute variations in cycles and the fact that all that really matters to some people, I just don't understand it. All I want from a washer is a cycle for my clothes, a cycle for my towels, and a cycle for my bedding. I could get away easily...

Here we go again, experts chiming in on we're washing 6 categories of things too often

I'm with Bob on bath towels, we change them after two uses. same with washcloths, so it takes about a week to accumulate a load of towels since I change kitchen towels/rags every two days as well. Sheets get changed once a week, but we have thin smooth-textured sheets. Since we are both hot...

    Speed Queen - Coming Soon...

Reply #183 William, I think Dan in reply #179 was referring strictly to the TR series. That model has a locking lid because it does not have a spin break -- the washer merely coasts to a stop when the spin cycle is over. So, that machine does require the start/pause button to be pressed to...

    Upgraded my dryer today

Reply #10 "He hasn't posted in a few years." I've been on here off and on since 2015, but didn't become what I would call regularly active until 2022, and I noticed by that point Martin/yogitunes had largely vanished from the forum. I hope he's ok. Ryne
