What is your favorite washing machine?

My favorite I've had was a 1959 GE filter flo that once belonged to my great aunt. It had the mint green agiitator cap, copper pan and lighted dial with two cycles. Normal with 15 to 3 minute wash and 3 minute short cycle wash (in red letters). My dream machine ia the rare 1958 Kenmore timeline.

    POD 2-19-2022

I don't know about everyone else but a hot water power rinse would not be a strong selling point with me. The shape of the control panel reminds me of an Apex and the agitator and tub of a Thor.

    Vintage Maytag's

The 66 iw on3 or my fqvorite model Fords. It and the 65s had the famous "green dot" transmission.

Let's Wash in the Unimatic and Pulsamatic at the Same Time

Has it really been 20 years since the last big wash-in at Robert's? I can't believe it. This just makes me want more videos. Also Robert, an updated photo of your collection for the site would be nice too!

    Today's POD Lady Executive

My mom had an early 60's Hotpoint (I think it was a 64) and it was extremely dependable and long lasting. It only had one repair. And she ran the hell out of it since we were a family of five. The only problem was the fountain filter system would get clogged which meant you had to remove the...

    Combo in Bachelor In Paradise

It must have taken a long time to dry since it didn't spin. The gas power must have had a high BTU rating. I've never heard of that brand. Thanks for the info.

    Combo in Bachelor In Paradise

I was watching the 1961 Bob Hope film "Bachelor In Paradise" the other night and was trying to figure out what brand of machine Bob over sudsed and flooded his house with suds. It looks like a sunny yellow Maytag combo. Has anyone seen this movie and can identify the machine?

    A new one for me

Those are odd looking machines near the end of the commercial. The two with the black and silver control knob in the center. Anyone know what they are?

    Early Whirlpool Automatic.

It's rare to find one with a red backlit agitator. Simply beautiful. To answer your question about the washer timer, all the early Whirlpools advanced quickly with the "click" noise just as the Maytags a d animatic timers did of that era.

    Movies with Appliances Being Used

In the movie'Hud" Patricia Neal has what looks like an early 60's Hotpoint washer or possibly an Easy on the back porch off the kitchen. In "Whatever Happened To baby Jane" Bette Davis has a Maytag AMP in the kitchen.

1958 General Electric Two Speed Filter Flo Washer

Wow! I've never seen a 58 with a pink control dial, only the 57's. This dial is identical to the one on my mom's 59 except it was turquoise. I hope you can fins the correct filter mount and pan for it.

    Meet the HORTONS!

Robert, this is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! Thanks so much for sharing! You're right about the water action during spin. If the lid were open you'd have as big a mess as the 49 ABC-O-Matic when agitation starts during the overflow rinse!

    Meet the HORTONS!

Interesting how it makes a totally different sound when tumbling in one direction as it does in the other. How much water does is in the tub during wash?

    Meet the HORTONS!

What a find, Robert! What year are these machines? I'm guessing late 40's. I immediately thought of the controls on your 47 GE when I saw the machine on the left and a 49 Maytag or 49 ABC with the machine on the right. And now the mystery of the I Love Lucy machine is finally solved! I can't...

A 1958 GE, brought back to life!

What a beautiful restoration! My great aunt had a 59 model with the seafood green agitator top instead of the pink they used in 58. It was a MOD one speed model with two cycles and lighted dial. Normal had black letters (15, 12, 9, 6, 3 minute wash) and short cycle had red letters with 3 minute...

    1965 Lady Kenmore Combo!

OMG! I wish I had seen this sooner. My sister lives in Cordova. I could have popped right over with my brother-in-law's truck and got that baby!

Like a phoenix rising from the brake dust, The Hotpoint - Part 2

Our early 60's Hotpoint with no tub brake had a slight tub indexing during agitation. It wasn't as drastic as a Westinghouse but it did improve the rollover. I noticed once the tub brake was added the indexing stopped.
