    OLD General Electric Clothes Conditioner

That is definitely a MOL 59 model. My great aunt had the matching washer. When she died in 1972 we moved into her house and my mom used that washer for many years. The tranny final gave out in the late 70's. It would no longer spin. One speed, two cycles, Normal with black letters and short with...

    Bewitched

In the early episodes of the first season Samantha had a Maytag washer then it was switched to a Frigidaire

    CBS Sunday Morning

Hi Bill, is Judy Hole still producing CBS Sunday Morning? I worked with her a few summers ago at the Maine Photographic workshop. You should contact Robert (unimatic). He started this group and has by far the most extensive collection of vintage machines.

    NEW ADDITIONS

Thanks to the generosity of Stephen Kirkpatrick I have three new washers to my collection. A 1962 Maytag TOL milk chocolate brown, a white late 60's Speed Queen (I think this might be the first year of the reversing motor and clockwise spin), and a poppyseed red Frigidaire 1-18. It's so much fun...

    Whirlpool POD 9/13/2013

This ad is disgusting. If "her boys" didn't want to change their underwear everyday it probably means they don't bathe or shower everyday either. There's obviously a lot of smelly testosterone in that house. "Now If I could only get them to wear pajamas at night". What a great line!

Something wandered into The Pile yesterday...

That burpolator is just like mine except yours is one model step up. Mine doesn't have the push button fabric controls. I hope it's in good working order. Those machines are real work horses. I love mine.

    Vintage General Electric Washer

I've never seen a GE washer with the timer on the left side except for the 1957 model. What year is this?

    POD Wartime Westinghouse Laundromat

The boy wearing the super-starched apron is priceless. He must have surely grown up to be a member of this club!

    Here's some photos...

That 58 Kenmore timeline is my dream Kenmore machine! Can you change tie lid to open from left or right? Also, what year is the GE with the turquoise back spalsh and whitw toggle switches? It looks like my old 59 except mine had the turquoise activator cap and yours is black.

    Beautiful 1960 Westinghouse Laundromat Brochures

I loved those units. Most blew the air through the cold coils rather than draw the air through them like most other brands did.

Question about early 60's Maytag colors

Sunny yellow was my favorite Maytag color but you don't see nearly as many of those as you do turquoise and pink.

    Beautiful 1960 Westinghouse Laundromat Brochures

Any with 1960 Westinghouse window air conditioners? To me, vintage ACs are almost as much fun as washers - especially those from the 1950's.

The Case of Sympathetic Spin ...OR..A 1956....

The solid tub GEs did not have a spray rinse. They all had the suds kill pause during the first spin. The trany problem was what we had with our old 59 GE. The tub rotated clockwise during wash causing the activator to agitate mostly clockwise as in your pre-restored video. Great job and I'm...

You Can Be Sure, I Think It's The First

Another great find. Robert, you have all the luck!

    Lady Kenmore Dryer

I have this exact dryer in my basement waiting for me to have a gas line installed in my laundry room.

the movie Hitchcock... maybe the wrong forum

Speaking of Joan Crawford, has anyone noticed the Maytag AMP she and Bette Davis had in their kitchen in "What Ever Happened To Baby Jane"?

First finds of the New Year

Great dryer! I love GE's from the late 50's. The 57 model was so cool with the dial on the left and in pink! I can't wait to see the matching washer!

    Atlanta wash-in

Stephen Kirkpatrick is hosting a little ole Southern wash-in at his house this Sunday afternoon. Bring your dirty drawers around 1 pm.

An AMP comes back to life!

Great machine! I love that bell sounding solenoid. Looks like the was no change from Robert's 49 to the 53 model. What year did Maytag begin using the black gyrotator instead of red in the AMP?

Hold The Phone! Pink Vintage GE Washer, Dryer and Fridge

That is a 56 filter-flo, the very first one. Looks like the rubber gaskit is missing from the activator that holds the filter pan in place but there must be one of those around in the club somewhere.
