    Cycle and Fabric Naming Conventions

I have to say those Kenmores are my favorite cycle convention, options and motor speed combinations. About the only thing I would add is a hot/warm temperature option, and an extra slow / extra slow speed combination, other than that I think its perfect.    That Kenmore 90 series washers are...

    Hotpoint DW

Bob, did your Hotpoint have two or three final rinses? Did the Power Scour button extend the main wash time?

    Cycle and Fabric Naming Conventions

Does anyone have a list of the various cycle names used or that have been used on automatic washers?   For example, here are some off the top of my head:     Whitest Whites, Whites, Heavy Duty, Normal, Regular, Permanent Press, Permanent Press Whites, Permanents Press Colors, Sheets, Knits...

When did GE start to go bad?

I personally believe GE just no longer cared other than extracting the remaining wealth out of their reputation. There are many, many companies that do this. Guys come in, take all the money, then run. Easy way of becoming rich and/or retiring comfortably.    Regarding the gentle power...

    My Whirlpool dishwasher

And the solution to that is proper loading, clips, press down tins and utility baskets.   Waiting for a dishwasher to do 3+ hours of washing while leaving food bits at the bottom of the machine only to become smelly overtime is ridiculous.   You're absolutely right appliance companies won't...

    My Whirlpool dishwasher

Dishwasher Vents Many standard tub dishwashers had what were essentially self sealing vents in that the louvers would block air when sprayed with water. During drain however, the vent would let air pass through like any other open vent. Those vents were the best in that they did not rely on...

    My Whirlpool dishwasher

Jerome, I agree. I want to hear both the bottom and upper rack spray arms hitting the roof of the dishwasher.     Cleaning is a function of 4 things: time, chemical energy, thermal energy and mechanical energy. Reduce one or more of these and the others must compensate. Reducing mechanical...

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

Thats a major cognitive jump John. You're saying if a person has a different life experience than the collective average, then they are delusion. That is straight up invalidation.    Your line of thinking where any one lived experience becomes irrelevant in the face of the majority is...

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

Yup. Personally I think Whirlpool should have just beefed up the clutch instead of going through the trouble of adding a neutral drain gear that doesn't even work as intended half the time.

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

John, I can only deduce two things from your reply: 1) You are calling me delusional 2) You are calling me a liar.     As I said, I have first had experience doing laundry in both neutral drain and spin drain washers for decades. Spin drain has consistently produced better results for me than...

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

John, scum rings aren't any better or an accomplishment. Washers ought to be self cleaning and not become the initial clothes being placed inside of them in the first place.     Neutral drain reduces wear on parts, you don't need intensive slipping of a clutch or belt lasting for near 120...

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

Spin drain prevents scum rings from forming around the agitator, tub rim and outer tub. I know this because every neutral drain washer I owned formed thick scum rings where the water level normally rests.   I also found hair, lint and scum floating at the top of the water would end up resting...

My 1970's Kelvinator 184 has arrived.

This washer appears to be spin-drain, as all top load washers should be.    The overload and imbalance light is a nice touch.

Is the Laundry Alternative Niagra Gone For Good?

I haven't seen any new re-supplies and no word from the manufacturer. Everyone says they are out, and the laundry alternative website no longer has it listed. Is this temporary?       https://www.amazon.com/Laundry-Alternative-Portable-Capacity-European/dp/B085N7N19P

When did GE start to go bad?

GE filter flo was the only washer that could provide total fabric care with a single speed motor. GE should have just stuck with a single speed clutch on all models.

When did GE start to go bad?

Jerome, I know how you feel! The longing and the bereavement is overwhelmingly painful. That video in particular gets me, it just hits the all the right buttons for me.   That set is a true perfect workhorse. Harmonious sound, excellent cleaning, great cycles, clothing care, beautiful control...

Frigidaire Agi Tub Washer Laundry Center

I dislike the variants between motors, especially those that run hot. I think washer, dishwasher and dryer motors should be made more efficient and larger for their rated HP. Precision wound, balanced and with lots of safety factors built in too.

Huge Help! Do you have any reference or pics to the Pope Norge design from 1976 to the 1980s?     Fascinating history I ever knew existed.
