Jerome, I have often wondered if top loads would clean better with a series of soaks and agitation, where the total agitation time does not exceed 10 or 14 minutes with soaks in between increasing the cleaning power without excess wear and tear on clothing.     What do you think?

I cast my vote for Hydro-wave. Not only did Hydrowave lack durability and longevity, but their cleaning was worse than the model T. I'd go to further say a 2025 BOL VMW impellar washer can out clean a Hydrowave which is just shameful for me to admit.

Unfortunately, more and more washers are moving toward impellers.     With NTW4516FW you got your money's worth. The washer may have been ultra cheap, but you also got great cleaning and great performance over the short life of the machine.     

I wonder if all the linting could have been from the 6 minute agitation rinse time of these early DDs compared to the gentler 2 minute rinse time of the belt drives prior. I could see why someone could inadvertently make the assumption the linting was the result of spin drain.

I always assumed the VMW would sense the motor current and speed during an imbalance while accelerating and change their programming execution accordingly and that an imbalance at high speed could only occur from a comforter bursting. But I could be wrong here.    A cheap Amana will have good...
