Putting dish soap in a washing machine

This may sound unorthodox, but have you tried using liquid dish soap in a washing machine intended for laundry? It is something that I have been experimenting with. I work as a dishwasher at a 55+ country club's restaurant close to my home. In this line of work, my chef coat and aprons...

GE UltraFresh Vent System actually works!

Carolina128 The venting cycle is somewhat loud; it's definitely audible even when I'm several feet away from the laundry room. The noise is like a "whoom, whoom, whoom..." If I'm in my bedroom, which is across the hallway from the upstairs laundry room, I can't hear the washer.

GE UltraFresh Vent System actually works!

mark_wpduet Yes, I watched the video you posted on my last thread about this washer. I actually had a minor issue about 2 months ago, where I saw excess suds during the final spin of a towel wash. I tried rinsing them again, but was baffled as to why detergent was making its way into the drum...

GE UltraFresh Vent System actually works!

I've had our GE GFW655SSVWW front-load washer, along with its matching dryer, for 4 months now; my family has been nothing but impressed with the set. Everything we throw in there comes out amazing clean. I'm here to discuss its hallmark feature, the "UltraFresh Vent System." This feature works...

Washer and Dryer Cycle Times To Long?

Interesting... I always thought that TLs washed faster than FLs, due to the former's higher water usage and agitator motions. However, my last washer (Frigidaire TL w/ agitator), had LONG cycle times; a Normal cycle lasted about 75 minutes. I think the 90-minute cycle is referencing a "heavy...

Happy 20th Birthday to my Whirlpool Duet FL Washer

Congrats on the milestone! It's hard for me to believe that an electronically-controlled FL washer has made it this long. My grandparents had this washer, along with its matching dryer, at their old, 3-story house which was bought back in late 2005. This was the first time I ever saw a...

    The Cool Wash Temperature

At my house... My old Frigidaire TL had both cold and cool temperature settings, in addition to the standard warm and hot. Whereas the "cold" setting simply added cold water from the tap without any heat, the "cool" option added in a small amount of warm water. Presumably, the latter setting is...

    GE GFW450 SSm1WW Front loader-stinky clothes complaint

UltraFresh Vent System I've had my new GE front-loader for two months now, and I can say with confidence that the UltraFresh Vent System is NOT a scam. It works by periodically spinning the drum while simultaneously drawing fresh air into the washer, effectively drying out the interior of all...

    Opinions: most irritating-sounding washer ever?

Frigidaire TL My old Frigidaire top-loader sounded rather irritating. The wide-finned agitator made a "whomp...whomp...whomp!" noise during normal operation. I thought this was very unusual, because I was used to hearing a constant din out of these TLs, like on the Maytag Atlantis at my old...

Frigidaire Dishwasher OrbitClean Spray Arm Issue

Basic Frigidaire Arm Well, 16 long days later, the basic spray arm arrived from Amazon. It was literally shipped in a plastic Electrolux bag, with a USPS label slapped on. The arm was delivered in a parcel locker. This basic arm is colored blue, instead of silver/white like in the product...

Frigidaire Dishwasher OrbitClean Spray Arm Issue

John L Fortunately, since I caught the dishwasher leaking at just the right time, the floor damage is VERY minor. Normally, I can't even see the warped spots unless I'm looking for them. If all that water sat on the floor overnight, well.... Anyway, since I did the switcheroo, the DW has been...

Frigidaire Dishwasher OrbitClean Spray Arm Issue

Update... Here's my status report on the generic spray arm. Initially, on the first few washes, the arm did very well, getting the dishes cleaner than ever before. But unfortunately, things quickly took a turn for the worse. The last few nights, the dishwasher had gotten a bit louder than...

    dishomat dreams and ideas

What I think... A commercial dish machine, like the one used in the place where I'm employed as a dishwasher at (55+ country club w/ private restaurant), takes about 2 minutes or less. Plus, as @me stated, food soils do indeed have to be rinsed and scrubbed off by hand before running them...

Frigidaire Dishwasher OrbitClean Spray Arm Issue

New Arm As promised, the replacement spray arm arrived late this afternoon, and I wasted no time installing it (after unloading the clean dishes, of course). This is a generic arm that came from Amazon (no reviews so far), arriving in a plain brown box. It was a bit tricky to install (the white...

Frigidaire Dishwasher OrbitClean Spray Arm Issue

A closer look... So today, I informed my dad about this issue, and I removed the spray arm so we could take a closer look at it. He found out about two things. First, the metal on the bottom of the OrbitClean end had split apart, so it's grinding against the plastic on the arm. Second, the...

Frigidaire Dishwasher OrbitClean Spray Arm Issue

GELaundry4ever No, I have not tried the Finish Ultimate tabs. But I do use Jet-Dry as my rinse aid. I doubt that stepping up to the Ultimate detergent would make a big difference. I agree, Frigidaire is hit or miss. Nearly all the appliances in my house are by that brand. I say "nearly"...

Frigidaire Dishwasher OrbitClean Spray Arm Issue

My current dishwasher, a Frigidaire Gallery model FGID2466QF4A, came with the house and is 8-9 years old. Despite having a plastic interior, it cleans dishes well for the most part. However, there is a persistent problem that baffled me for the longest time. A lot of dishes in the bottom rack...

Do you use heated dry on your dishwasher?

Door prop Is anybody else aware of these door props for dishwashers? I bought one on Amazon a couple weeks ago for $11. It clips onto the top rack, allowing the door to be propped open for air drying without taking up too much space. And, for convenience, the prop can be rotated into the...

Do you use heated dry on your dishwasher?

This is a question that has been floating around in my head for quite a while now. I ask this because of potential energy saving concerns. Personally, I've been an advocate of heated dry for as long as I can remember. It significantly cuts down on the time I need to towel-dry the clean dishes...

To Rinse or Not Rinse - Dishwasher Story

My take Pre-rinsing is done 50/50 in my current household. I have a Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher, model # FGID2466QF4A; it came with the house and has features such as an OrbitClean spray arm and Sahara Dry. This dishwasher works well for the most part; however there are certain dishes that...
