    Early Mechanical Dishwashing

It is so beautiful, like something you would do, I thought maybe you had excavated out to the side. There was a rock group called the Walker Brothers and every time I heard their name, I used to think of the Walker Dishwasher people.

Favorite dishwasher detergent and rinse aid...

You might be. I wash plastic containers and some drink bottles, although not as many as when I was packing my lunch, and HATED having drinks and foods flavored by detergent residue from strong flavors and fragrances. I mix Cascade complete gel with about a scant tablespoon of STPP. In the...

    Frigidaire portable DW

in 2000, John put an ad in Appliance Service News looking for Frigidaire Service manuals. A nice Frigidaire Dealer in Cleveland sold some to us. Later we met him and he told us how they got special permission for their kitchen remodeling business to be able to offer KitchenAid dishwashers to...

Maytag Presents: The Story of Clothes Drying - 16mm Film

Frigidaire mounted their gaskets to the door, not the door opening on the machine itself because in the Filtrators the cabinet would be too hot. Frigidaire TOL dryers had foot pedal door opening from 1957 on into the 1960s.

Maytag Presents: The Story of Clothes Drying - 16mm Film

In looking more closely at that black door gasket, I am wondering if it could be a TOL GE from before the redesign in 1957. I see the door latch on the side, but don't know if it is released by a foot pedal or a button on the side.

    Frigidaire portable DW

The TOL models had the dispenser as well as the loading diagrams on the door. At some point Frigidaire put the little spritzer at the top of the tank which really helped eliminate yibblets.

Maytag Presents: The Story of Clothes Drying - 16mm Film

What's the dryer shown at 2:51? I can tell it belongs to a dryer without a door handle, but no more.

    VOA

Here is the story not behind an ad blocker CBS News reports: A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to rehire all Voice of America, Radio Free Asia and Middle East Broadcasting Network staff for now, and he said all congressional funding must resume to the outlets, which had been...

Job Lot of Persil Going Cheap

Thank you, Launderess. I looked at the drive (3.5 hrs each way) and decided to order another box of the 90 load Persil from Amazon before there is no trade with Germany. I am looking forward to Jetcone restarting the Rosalie's ZeroSuds machine, but don't know when that will be. I use the measure...

    KDS-57A Sani Cycle Temp

Consumer reports reported on this back in the 70s. The sani cycle stops circulation while the one gallon fill is heating to 180F, but then that water is sprayed onto the dishes that are at best 140F, it cools to around 150F and that was the temperature of dishes in the lower rack. The reading...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

They make cargo briefs now? Are they for large packages? Are they sold at big box stores?

Maytag Machines After Whirlpool Buyout - What Remained?

Maytag slapped their name on Admiral refrigeration products. Those must have been made in the Galesburg plant since even Maytag saw what a disaster it was. The doors on the side-by-sides did not line up and were almost impossible to line up. It was very obvious when you looked at the boxes...

    Challenge C-WD - The 1957 Kenmore Turbo-Matic - 16mm Film

Thanks, Cory! Of course, nothing is said about the tremendous noise from these machines. I remember two of these in friends' kitchens. With no suspension, all of the motor & mechanical noise goes right through the machine chassis to resonate through the floor and in a small room they were very...

    What is a Cycle?

A cycle is something with a beginning and an end. Whether the cycle is labeled Normal or Delicate or Soak is irrelevant. It is a cycle. The question at the heading of the post asks what is a cycle, but then launches into an argument for a slow speed in the delicate cycle, but GE is not the only...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

The worst thing about the Neptune washer was the way Maytag screwed customers over when the door lock mechanism went out shortly after the machine went out of warranty and Maytag refused to cover the repair costs. This was a low blow to people who had purchased a Maytag based on a reputation for...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

Maytag was run by a stupid management team that made many poor decisions like buying those outdated, outmoded appliance lines in order to have a full line of appliances on the cheap. Instead of doing the work to have a real Maytag large capacity top loader to put them on a level with other...

Betty Furness Introduces Frigidaire's Very First Automatic Washer with a Full Cycle Video!

Robert, does your machine have the little flip down bail-type prop to hold up the lid for drying out the machine after use? When I used to fly, I would time the period from when the engines were reved up and the brakes were released until the final thump as the wheels left the runway and...

Betty Furness Introduces Frigidaire's Very First Automatic Washer with a Full Cycle Video!

A friend's family had a 1957 control tower and his mother used a half cup of Tide in it. I remember when the testing magazines tested this machine and they did not like the way the perforated tub left deposits on the laundry, but they were always afraid of Frigidaire washers.[this post was last...
