When my range hood was installed in the 90s, a magnet was attached to a tab on the damper that held the damper closed against the outside hood surround. It was very effective at preventing back drafts.

Reply 52 is not a basic GE dryer, but a DI 810 with auto dry, a pedal door opening system and an interior light. It dates from around 1962 or so.

I like the way the Surgilator pulls laundry under the water, especially after the aerated fill for the rinse sometimes drives air under things like sheets. It does a much better job of handling air trapped under large items than the Kenmore Rotoswirl, at least the way my mother loaded sheets.
