    WP BD basket capacities

The largest, the near 3.0 cu ft, big tub Not the best pictures. I may try to re-take these after I return from some errands. My phone will be less awkward than the iPad.

    WP BD basket capacities

Next, the original standard capacity Note the distance from the agitator fin to the basket wall is much wider. This is a 1979 KM 500 and my 1976 KM 60, the green beast.

    WP BD basket capacities

Pics - first up 24-inch stationary machines I am not certain what the capacity was quoted as on these, but here are two of my machines, a 1982 built 200 series Kenmore and a 1967 model Kenmore 100. I don't have the best overhead lighting for photography in my garage.

    WP BD basket capacities

Hello Kevin Interesting question! I'm not John, but I have a lot of information to offer you. First, it does seem like the Canadian Inglis machines were nearly all standard capacity. I did see some pictures of a late model large tub machine with the Penta-Vane, made I think several years...

    BD Kenmo right next door

These seem to be in nice shape 1979 Kenmore 70 series dryer, with either a 1979 Kenmore 80 washer (Dual Action) or a 1980 Kenmore 70 (Penta-Swirl) washer. Almost looks like they are Almond? I'd say a good deal for the price. Gordon

    POD 8/20/17: Salvo Detergent Tablets

My Grandmother used Salvo That, and Amway SA8. Echoing what others have said, I remember the Salvo tablets clanging around in the machine, in this case a 1962 Whirlpool. I remember them hitting the upper curves the Surgilator most. I got my Mom to buy a box of Salvo once, as Greg said she...

1981? Kenmore washer/1970's? Sears Kenmore dryer avocado

Quite a bit 'o cash for sure! I would expect the price for this pair to be closer to $50 than $500. Then again, maybe that's why the seller has the 'make an offer' option on there... The machine is legit, no console swap. This is a 1981 Kenmore 70 series. My mother bought the same model in...

Where can I get this part?

Air dome That part is called an air dome. It is present in every belt drive washer, full size and portable, from at least the early 1970s, maybe earlier, to the end of the belt drives in April 1987. Is this part cracked or damaged? If not, it's probably the seal that goes with this that is...

"Ya know, Every Now and Then"....(in my best Tina Turner Voice)

Absolutely stunning! Wow Don, that is an absolutely amazing find. CONGRATULATIONS !! I'm not sure I could take them out of the boxes, but will watch this thread with great anticipation for their unveiling. Congrats again!! Gordon

    Harvest Gold Fade?

Steven, I think you have some of both things going on. While the yellows and golds during the 70s were changed somewhat, especially when the switch was made from shaded to non-shaded colors, it looks like there is some degradation of the finish on the dryer top. Porcelain does not seem to...

Kenmore 400 Saved From the Crusher

Giving a nudge to Robert via an old thread This wonderful thread first introduced many of us to the 1965/66 KM 400. Gotta love the dark blue tub!!! Thanks once again Robert! http://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?16225

Kenmore 400 Saved From the Crusher

Slow agitation and other stuff... Jed - Slow agitation is very possibly from a very worn belt. If I recall when I saw the spin video, it sounded like a worn or weak belt during the initial ramp up. Regarding the filter, KM certainly made a lot of their machines well past their model year of...

Kenmore 400 Saved From the Crusher

Awesome Jed! That's really a great find Jed! Not too many of these machines have survived this long. You are right that this is either a 1965 machine or a 1966. There were similar models both years. Give us the model number and we will know for sure. As to the BOL-ness of this machine...

    POD 7/5/2017

This is a wonderful agitator. The name change from Surgilator to Super Surgilator involved a switch from Bakelite to Polypropylene, where the polypropylene version got extended fins at the base the extend past the skirt to provide a greater degree of water movement. I noticed something very...

    POD 7/4/2017

Kenmore agitators... Since the Roto-Swirl came out in the 50s, Kenmore always offered more than one agitator. Agitators got better, according to Sears anyway, as you progressed upward in the model specs. The "better" agitators were advertised as reasons to spring for pricier models. By the...

    Lady Kenmore washing machine

1975 All-American dryer I borrowed this picture from Ponchoguy. This is the 1975 All-American dryer. Same essentially as the 1976 model, but this one has a full-width door that the '76 did not.

    Lady Kenmore washing machine

Hello - I am the person who took both those pictures, though I did not immediately remember the second one. Both machines are mine. I presume that you chose these pics because the overall console layout and construction is similar to the machine you remember. If so, what you recall is a...

    Problem with Belt Drive

Interesting indeed I first read this thread and saw/heard the video last night, but was too tired to think up a reasonable response, then figured it was best to wait to see if John/Combo had anything to say. Seeing as he thinks its interesting too, and I had a bit more time to closely...
