What is the best residential Whirlpool VMW to buy?

whirlpool I wouldn't trust any of them. I'd seek out an LG front loader, or even Whirlpool/Maytag. Heck, Speed Queen Laundry is better than any of them.

cleaning The cleaning wasn't the problem. It was the smell that was off putting.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

GE residential and commercial I heard that the GE commercial uses a heavier motor compared to their residential models. Are they for real or is this just a ploy?

The GE HydroWave: One of the worst washers ever

GE! I can testify to this. I have done a full sized dark load and the load didn't even turn over. I had to spend a dollar to do a full cycle. In other words, I had to run the machine twice just to get the load washed and rinsed properly. And this was in a college dorm. The model T my dad had...

    Cycle and Fabric Naming Conventions

chetlaham As a side note, you may want to check out the post concerning the vmw transmission platform. I believe GE just copied Whirlpool. Too many model T defenders say they're built tough. Although mine lasted 17 years, these were still flimsy. It's just GE's copy of the VMW, clear cut.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

VMW copy I'm sure GE's copy of the VMW has plastic gears in their residential units. Nowhere do they mention steel drive transmission, which leads me to believe it's a GE commercial exclusive. I do suspect that GE has adopted this platform as of 2015. I don't believe these will handle extra...

    Tide Ultra Oxi

chetlaham I didn't like the smell. The pods were the worst. That's why I switched to Persil Advanced Clean oxi+odor which smell way better. As a side note, I switched softener from Downy to Snuggle. It smells way better, and I currently use their super fresh scent.

    The Defense of the Model-T

GE! Granted, my model T lasted 17 years which was shocking to me, and so did the matching dryer.

    Cycle and Fabric Naming Conventions

chetlaham My dad would either use 30 minute soak or 15 minute extra heavy cycle due to smelly laundry particularly on the normal/fast speed setting. We did use it on all 3 temperatures depending on color of the load.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

steel If anybody has tough steel, it would be Speed Queen Anything. I have a feeling chetlaham has something to say.

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

GE! GE's commercial steel gears are just marketing. I don't believe their residential units don't have any. Still, you'll NEVER find a GE in a laundromat. Apparently, we haven't learned from the model T. That 1/2 horsepower motor with steel drive transmission is just a marketing ploy to get...

    Whirlpool VMW washer transmission

transmissions The Whirlpool/Maytag machines are the same. No wonder why they don't last in a laundromat. As far as I'm concerned, GE is no different. Their transmissions are puny and have proven they can't handle the task.

    Cycle and Fabric Naming Conventions

chetlaham My GE model t's largest section was the cottons cycle which went from 30 minute soak to spin only.

    The Defense of the Model-T

GE! I had a GE model T after the filter-flo, and I noticed it would twist and shift during normal/fast agitation on the super load size despite have everything removed as far as the shipping rod is concerned. It did get the job done. I thought model t's never had concrete unlike the filter-flos.

    What? No "Touch-N-Cook"?

frigidaire no more So I guess Frigidaire is no more? Is this true? Say it isn't so.

The GE HydroWave: What did you think of them?

my candid thoughts Honestly, I hated them. The agitation was so weak that it never turned over full loads. It sounded like it was gonna fall apart. and the last ones I used I had to restart the full cycle all over again to insure the soap was all rinsed out. I've used one in a college dorm. The...
