    Rhubarb season, again!

Thanks Pete and Tim! I never knew rhubarb did well without full sun.  I'll give it another try in a more appropriate spot, but will probably have to wait until next year to find a plant.  I have read that stalks should be harvested by pulling rather than cutting, but I've never had that...

GE Hand Mixer Model 10M47 Replacement Beaters

Thanks Barry!   I've given up on straightening out the ones that came with it, and the prices + shipping on eBay are ridiculous.   Stand by for a message!

    Rhubarb season, again!

Mmmmmmm! Rhubarb Pie! After three attempts, I have not been able to get a rhubarb plant to establish itself.  If I can find plants at a nursery I assume it's supposed to grow here, but seeing as how the majority of replies to the OP are from east of the Rockies, I suppose that's where it...

    Universal Roastmaster range

A Beauty In Stunning Condition That stove was owned by a highly accomplished homemaker!  It's a total steal and  really do hope it finds a loving home.

Best disposers -- vintage or modern?

The best disposer I've ever had was a Maytag from around 1990.  It was a continuous feed type and IIRC the model number was F-5.  The literature claimed it could actually grind nails.  We never tried that, of course, but considering how it handled everything else we fed it, I wouldn't doubt that...

GE Hand Mixer Model 10M47 Replacement Beaters

I picked up a nice pink GE mixer with color-coordinated line cord recently, but the inserting ends of both beaters were bent and I've had unsatisfactory results trying to straighten them.  In addition, one of the beaters is difficult to insert into either receptacle and it appears to have...

    Fridge not cooling well

We had an ~'85 Whirlpool SxS and more than once we had an issue with the defrost drain becoming clogged.  Something as small as an escaped frozen pea sitting on the drain opening was enough.  Fortunately, the drain was easily accessible by pulling out the storage basket at the bottom of the...

    room air conditioners 5345

I think a saddle type of unit would be a good solution if they make them in the dimensions you need.  I assume they cost more than a plain old window unit, though.

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

Oh Hell No! Nothing was louder than a Norge brake!  We all jumped out of our skin the first time we heard it.  Little did my parents know they had allowed a destructive monster into the house lo, those many decades ago.

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

Chris,   I suppose one loud bang was on par with a '70s GE Filter-Flo's whacka-whacka wind-down from draining and spinning.

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

Trailers and Tahoe This reminded me of the cabin we used to stay at on Donner Lake back in the '60s.  I'm pretty sure the same stacking set in turquoise was in a side-by-side configuration just off the kitchen there, and of course it was love at first sight.

    Turquoise Westinghouse Stacked W/D

A family around the corner from us with 8 kids had this exact set.  I remember how quiet both machines were, and wishing we could have machines just like them (we had a '56 Norge washer and older Timeline dryer at the time).  The family  moved away in 1966 and I remember being glad to see the...

    1962 Magnavox Restoration

Our 1962 Ward's (surprise!) Airline stereo console had a multiplex button as well as an "FM Lock" button, which I presume was the same as AFC.  I've forgotten who the actual manufacturer was for Ward's electronics of this type back then, but it certainly wasn't a high end maker like Magnavox.

    Hobart KitchenAid dishwasher

John, you gave me a scare so I did some searching just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind!   I'm providing a link to a thread where Steve described KA builders models.  You have to scroll down quite a bit to find his post.   I'm not trying to prove a point or dispute anything; I just...

    Hobart KitchenAid dishwasher

Builders Model I'm fairly certain the "B" in KDB is indicative of the "Builders" model.  AFAIK, these were not available for purchase by the general public and were a yet lesser model the bottom of the line "Custom."  There is no china guard under the top wash arm, but the Custom may not have...

    Hobart KitchenAid dishwasher

Thanks Dan -- Just busy and on the go lately, and then that whole COVID surprise I wasn't expecting that ruined my clean record and sapped my physical and mental capacities for a couple of weeks.   I'm still enjoying the timer you posted a while back that extends intervals on my 712.  It...

    Hobart KitchenAid dishwasher

That is a bottom of the line KitchenAid from +/- 1990.  Some people prefer them for their simplicity.
