    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

Once I am back home with my Catalyst I can send you a video and some photos. I have a manual switch on the back of the console that triggers the lid switch to run it with the lid open, however I have to cycle it before the next load otherwise it throws an F3 code as well.

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

I’ll have to look for it next time I’m back home with the machines. Not exactly sure when that will be but if I find it I would be willing to part with it. Unfortunately I do not believe I have any other good spare parts besides that.

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

Sound Absorber I think I may have the sound absorber from mine somewhere in the garage. A similar one could probably be made with a thick piece of cardboard, and some felt or similar material on both sides of it, to help dampen some sound.

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

It’s kind of funny that yours has that dent in the front left of the cabinet. When I got my catalyst, It has a dent in the front at about the same height, but on the right side. Overall, your machine does not seem to be in too bad of shape. Wish you the best of luck with it!

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

I have never had any issue with the diverter valve in my catalyst in the few years I've owned it, so I don't imagine yours would be bad, especially if its been gone through and looked over before being sold. The thing that I've heard that usually fails on these electronic catalyst machines is...

    Whirlpool Gold Catalyst Direct Drive

Reply #3 The diverter valve is what allows the machine to recirculate water for the Catalyst period. When disengaged/unenergized, that machine is in its "recirculation mode" which sends water from the pump back up to the top of the tub for the Catalyst treatment. When energized, it switches...

Introducing: 1982 Kenmore 70 Series Belt Drive In Harvest Gold!!!!

I have a similar year 70 series Belt drive machine, and I had some similar problems to what you are having with it. I had a couple of pinhole leaks around the outer tub that caused it to leak out onto the base plate and drip down onto the floor. I ended up patching the outer tub and that fixed...

    1940s (?) Bendix Washer - $50 - Marion IL

According to the seller it is not functional. Not sure what it would take, but may be interesting to someone here that would be wanting to put in the effort. Seller is asking $50 and its located in Marion Illinois...

    Older Maytag Washer info needed

The "FQ" at the end of the serial number would be the year and month. F being 1992, and Q being July. This is definitely belt driven, and would have the newer orbital transmission as well, so definitely a keeper if you can get it working. Not sure what exact problems you're having with it, but...

    lookie what i bought today!!!

Whirlpool Super Surgilator I have one of these, as well as the matching fabric softener dispenser for it. It’s currently the primary agitator that I use in my Kenmore 70 Series, as It washes clothes very well, and turns the load over well, even when it’s rather large or bulky.

    In search of: Kenmore Agitators

Hello everyone! With the weather getting warmer, I'm finally looking towards getting my Kenmore 70 series BD machine unwinterized and operational for the summer. I am currently looking to get either a Roto-Swirl, Penta-swirl, or Vari-flex agitator for it to do some experiments and testing. If...

    Vintage Maytag Dryer

That dryer is not going to have a fluorescent console. Only the top of the line A806 and A906 had the lit up console in those years. All of the other models had a metal insert that was painted white. ~Henry

Parting out too old automatic washers

Both of those machines looks like they had a fairly hard, and long life. Would definitely be interested in trying to find a way to get that agitator cap from the Kenmore. I have the pentavane agitator in my 70 series, but no cap to cover the bolt.

    Maytag A106 - Slow Agitation

Back to working on this After longer than I anticipated, I’m finally back home and able to put some more into this thing. As far as lubricating oil, I’ve heard good things about Zoom Spout turbine oil. Should I go for that, or is there a different, recommended brand? However I intend to...

vintage direct drive whirlpool washer and vintage kenmore dryer of over 60 years

When would these dryers have been produced? I was thinking somewhere in the era of 1970 to 1975. I’ve seen one or two before but I’m not too sure about all the details on them. This would be one of the “Match-all” dryers, correct?

    Wrinkle Guard III Not Working

Auto Dry Of the few dryers I've used, from brand new, to a few years old, to a couple decades old, I've never had any issues using Electronic or automatic dry. The only cycles I run on a timed dry, are small loads that may trip up the sensor, such as a really small load of whites. Other than...

    Maytag A106 - Slow Agitation

Reply #19 I checked the belt tension and it seemed a tiny bit over tensioned. I loosened the tension to be within specification, but it did not seem to change the way the machine behaved much if at all. However, how freely should the pump spin? When I try and turn it by hand, it seems to stop...
