    Maytag A806 - $50 in Menomonie, WI

Pretty decent looking A806 for a nice price. Don't know if working or not but probably a good deal! https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/960041164999982/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A9cc0129c-5c5c-4c83-8208-39a7549d4ccb

    HE Toploader Water Usage

Water Usage I have no idea as to the extent of the High Efficiency of these machines, but i’m going to guess in total, it’s probably around 18 gallons total. In terms of actual cleaning ability, these F&P aquasmart are absolutely amazing machines. The “Eco Active” (if i recall correctly) is...

    Collecting Parts For Future Projects

Hello Everyone! Recently I've been starting the search for repair and refurbishment parts for some of my machines, since I know eventually they will wear down and start to have issues pop up here and there. I'd like to get ahead of the curve and start getting together what parts I can find now...

Maytag mvwp586gw / Maytag mvwp585gw Video Available on YT

This machine also has the heavier duty 1/2 HP motor, belt, and other components. IIRC the old models really only struggled with the gearboxes, since they use the same plastic gearbox as the other models. I don’t doubt that they used it again in these new models, but I wouldn’t say that they...

    Direct Drive: Dancing Wash Basket?

Sound Deadening If I recall, all your previous DD machines had some factory sound deadening. This machine likely had none. If you’re used to hearing the dampened sounds of a DD with the “Quiet Pak” a DD without sound insulation can be quite loud. If you’re having problems with it being...

    shipping companies

The one time I had a machine shipped (Colorado to Illinois) I used U-Ship. Was about $300 and I was able to plan out much in advance with the shipper. If I was to do it again, I would probably go the same route.

A Royal Restoration - Summer of Love Speed Queens!

What a beautiful set, and what a fantastic restoration on them! The more I learn about what goes on with restoring them makes me appreciate them so much more. With a restoration like this, and a person with your expertise, I do not doubt these machines will continue to run for many years

Really Stuck Direct Drive Inner Tub

So far I have not yet attempted to remove the inner tub again, mostly since I haven’t had a significant amount of time to go over and devote to it. I do intend to try your advice though, and see if I can’t get it unstuck. I’m hoping it’ll be soon that I have a free weekend to spend tearing into...

End of an Era, "commercial" VMWs discontinued!

Reply 58 assuming they kept the same design as the 575, as it appears they may have, then the new ones will have the same “heavier duty” VMW design.

    Kenmore set

Nice set! This is one of my favorite style of the Kenmore machines. There’s something about that black console with white and red lettering that’s unique. I’d love to get my hands on one some day. Best of luck with this set!

Really Stuck Direct Drive Inner Tub

Yes, that was intended to be a before picture of how bad it was. I scrubbed the entire tub cover, as much of the cabinet, and other plastics, and got what I could off of the outer tub. I will definitely try and get some form of scrub brush to stick down in there and clean what I can.

Early Whirlpool WSSR? - $150 Schaumburg IL

Looks to be fairly well used, but if cleaned up, this could be a great find https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/5083316471770846/?mibextid=dXMIcH

Really Stuck Direct Drive Inner Tub

After assembling it and cleaning what I could, I did run two loads of hot water with washer cleaner, and scrubbed what I could reach. This machine is not mine, but rather my mothers, and she almost always washes on warm and never uses fabric softener. The machine was left by the previous...

Really Stuck Direct Drive Inner Tub

I will definitely have to try letting something sit there for a while and see if that is able to break it free. The machine is still used regularly, and nothing is wrong with it at the moment. I just wanted to pull the inner tub in order to really deep clean the outer tub, as it was filthy, and...

Really Stuck Direct Drive Inner Tub

Hitting With Hammer I tried that multiple times. I spent at least a half hour using a towel bunched up for protection against the top side of the wash basket, and hitting it with a hammer while going around to try and break it free, as well as using same methods directly against the part that...

Really Stuck Direct Drive Inner Tub

I know there’s been discussions on this before, and I’ve read them all, and tried everything but I am at a complete loss. Multiple attempts to remove this inner tub from a 2010 Amana DD, and nothing has even gotten it to budge. I’ve tried boiling water between the drive block and tub, rust...

    Vintage Maytag Washer and Dryer

The washer appears to be an early model A106, maybe even with the black powerfin. As for the dryer, that’s something cool! Appears they’ve both had hard lives though, wouldn’t be surprised if the bases were quite crusty.

Did most Maytag generations look older than they were? If so, what years/decades did they fit more?

Reply #11 Yes, The machine in picture one is my 1978 Maytag A408S. I picked it up about a year ago and it has worked flawlessly since I got it. The second machine is my new to me 1969 Maytag A106 that I picked up about two months ago. As I said, most people would not guess that they were made...

Did most Maytag generations look older than they were? If so, what years/decades did they fit more?

And then after that, Whirlpool came along and bought Maytag, and it seems they like to update the designs just about every year or so. on a side note to that, the center dials definitely seemed ageless in a way. Just looking at my two, most people would probably not guess they were made almost...

    The Holy Grail of Kenmore

That washer does indeed look like it could be a Lady Kenmore Ultra Fabric Care IV, which the timer is just that, a timer. All cycles are selected through the cycle options knob
