Ditto from me for the replies! I've read in Philco ads that their fins contained water. 

What washer, brand and model, is that shown in that Borateem ad POD?

Image Scans I'd love to see more image scans of washer, dyrer, and dishwasher panels (especially vintage ones), wash tubs, agitators, and lid instructions. 

Did any WP's from between 1963 and 1979 ever drain and fill without pausing before resuming agitation? Also, was the draining in low speed during that era?

I think that's the first dishwasher I've seen with the word 'Party' on its cycle selections.

Another major difference in 60s-70s Kenmores and Whirlpool Wash 'n' Wear/Permanent Press cycles is their deep rinse agitation speeds. The former agitated on high speed, while the latter agitated on low.

What I meant was that the soak time reduction was an effect of the drain time expansion.

It was in 1974 when Kenmore's Pre-Soak cycles were reduced from 30 to 22 minutes, thus adding the extra two-minute timer notch for the drain periods.

I've read in the Kenmore washer operating instructions that they specifically advised NOT to put it into spin while the tub still had water in it, in order to avoid putting "an unnecessary strain on the motor".

When it comes to permanent press, I prefer to use high-speed agitation and low-speed spin. Thus, I prefer models with that option available.
