    Prewash-less Dishwashers

Water turbidity sensing technology is where pre rinsing could be eliminated. But this isn’t across the board, yet.

    Prewash-less Dishwashers

I know we’re talking residential machines here but I wanted to make an additional point about commercial machines. In the past, I’ve operated commercial dishwashers that use the last load rinse water as the wash water for the next load. Essentially and theoretically, it’s “clean” water. The...

    My KDS-57A

Leak is gone, this time. I cleaned it out and even flipped the little “coin” onto its other side. No drips so far this cycle.

    KITCHEN AID DISHWASHER KDC-20A REPLACEMENT

Hello, There are plenty of 19/20/21 machines out there on marketplace, OfferUp etc. if you think that’s the best route and you could keep parts from your current machine for spares. Your description of the lack of cleaning quality, from what I’ve read around this site, it could be a bad wash...

    My KDS-57A

Thank you, John! No foaming, and water level is perfect. I will clean it again. Aside from a few scratches, a small rusty trail from the signs on a small leak on the dryer unit were the only signs this machine was used. And it appears, she just has an inevitable leak back there.

    My KDS-57A

Small leak …In the back right corner. About a drip every 5-10 seconds. The little circular flap inside the diffuser is down/closed and the diffuser cap is pushed down as far as it will go. Any suggestions, Or is this just a typical occurrence from a design flaw?

    Movies with Appliances Being Used

I hope y’all don’t mind me starting this again I was watching the movie “Hitchcock” today which takes place 1959/60. His kitchen incorrectly had a KitchenAid KDS-18 installed, something that wouldn’t have been around for another 25 years after the movie takes place. Another movie, “The...

    My KDS-57A

First Load Complete! Just completed the first load. I am very impressed although I don't know why I would have any doubt. I guess I was disappointed in the past with one arm machines, namely cheaper DWs installed in apartments. It took 3 days to get a full load. We would have filled and in...

    Interchangeability of KA DW timers

I had a hunch So they really have to come from the same series, and I figured as much. No need for one now. Thought maybe I could make a superior wash from an older machine, just for fun. But if there is no benefit, I won’t bother.

    Interchangeability of KA DW timers

Hello, I am curious about the interchangeability of timers for KA DWs. If I wanted or needed to put a working timer on a machine, could I use one from a newer or older machine. I know on the 16 and older, there’s all the wires individually connected to the timer. And then, at some point in the...

    My KDS-57A

Cycles Thanks all for the comments. I’ve been reading over the cycles. Curious why only the “soak cycle” has a purge? Perhaps to get the hot water in? All the washes only have a detergent exposure time of 1-4 minutes, depending on what cycle you choose, with light wash being the least. I wish...

    My KDS-57A

I recently acquired this c1974 Superba 57A It appears to be minimally used. Nearly no rust on the racks and very little in the sump. All components look great. It was converted to built in. I converted it back to portable for the time being. I did some light cleaning on it and added a longer...

Mickey, Thanks for being so kind. I have seen the underneath of a KDS-58 post here on the site. If you can perhaps give me any measurements of the caster size that would be most helpful. I just want to make sure she’s level. I know it had two wheels on the back and two decorative rollers on...

    2 questions

Hopefully a solution I purchased a dishwasher fill/drain attachment for the sink with the black hoses rather that the newer style. I was able to get the 3/8 compression elbow off of the inlet valve and will attach a 3/8 male elbow with barb. After looking at dishwasher hookup kits that contain...

    2 questions

Hello, Question 1: I have a KDS-57A that I am trying to attach a hose to. I tried to screw on a brass 3/8 inch female with a 3/8 barb onto the inlet valve and it was too large. I went back to the hardware store and exchanged it for the next size down which was 1/4 inch, and it was too small. I...
