Hey John L, okay then maybe it is stripped...or, is this normal functioning...(the agitator slides up the shaft a bit but, the screw is prevents the full release) I'm used to the agitator staying completely locked in without any release...am I wrong and this is normal?

Hey Dnastrau, it's the set-in lock screw for Maytag's Power-fin and PowerFlex 12 agitators. The agitator will not stay in place once I've tightened it. It slides up the shaft while it fills. My PowerFlex 12 agitator is new and had to open the hole for the screw to sit in the spline shaft...

Hey John L, Dan, it's both. When I first installed the brake, it stop the tub but, made a 'schrencing" sound when the tub stopped. I added another teaspoon of oil to the brake thinking it may stop the noise...(maybe it was too much). Now the brake is not working at all. I was under the...

What can cause a new brake assembly to not stop the tub at the end of the spin cycles? Could too much oil jam up the brake assembly? Although I have new spin bearings, Brake Rotor, and Radial Ball I still manually have to turn the tub to start it spinning.

The water level switch is going bad. I still can use the washer, just have to slide the Reset level downward to start it agitating

An eBay auctioneer sold me the PowerFlex 12 agitator without the set screw. Gave me a fabric softener dispenser and cup instead. That was nice but, can not use the agitator. Can not find it online...so what can I use in place of it? Any suggestions?

At the small water level, the washer begins to fill then stops with 3 1/2 inches of water in the tub. Using reset, the water continues to fill but, not at the set water level. The only way it will continue to fill and start agitating is I'll have to use the reset.

John L can you share thoughts about my latest topics in "My A712 is Dying"? I want to move forward but, need more input.

Hey John L, I brought that one but, the hose seems to be too small for the valve nozzle. I didn't want to force it and damage the hose opening. What I'm I missing?
