It seems logical that top load washers return to solid tub designs in an effort to lower water use. Seems what's old is new again. I can't wait till the reintroducion of the lint ejector tube and recirculating water lint filter.

This reminds me of a Fisher Paykel ecosmart washer.

I am a huge fan of the later Neptunes. With that being said, bearing failures are not exclusive to them as it seems to effect all front loaders. I would be more concerned with a corroded tub spider which doesen't seem to be as common an issue for Neptunes as they are for the Fridgidaire...

I would just sugest getting a good preowned dryer off of craigslist or perhaps an appliance repair shop. Dryers are fairly reliable devices provided they aren't the fancy kind with digital contols. All the appliances advertised in the photo below come with a 60 day warranty and free delivery...

This dryer is for sale here on the local craig's for $50 and would make a perfect parts donor.

The only real road blocks I see to Tide PODS is that A) they are very expensive and B) How do you dose it when doing a small instead of large load?
