Did they make this style in both '57 and '58? Just curious as I thought this was a '57 model.

The clicking sounds like the motor overheating and cutting out. This could be due to improper belt tension, worn belts, or motor slide needing cleaning and lubrication. It also could be more complicated like the transmission putting too much load on the motor but I would check out the belts...

The serial numbers tell me that yours are both 1979 models. I have the same set, same color, although mine has a window lid on the washer.
