Do maytag A608 clean just as good as a direct drive Kenmore/Whirlpool ?

Put 4 pair of filthy jeans in the machine and I think you'll be impressed with the results.  The old 2-belt Maytag washers wash well, rinse well, and extract well.

    Sunbeam Appliance Center knobs

I wonder if those knobs are the same as those found on an old clock radio.     http://renovatedradios.com/productlist.php?category=97

Electric Cars are now Biting into Gasoline Sales

My Soul is the base model, it was only $16,500 brand new.  Current value at 10 years old with 46,000 miles is about $8,000   How much is a 10 year old Nissan Leaf with tired batteries worth?   I'll keep my Soul until it's used up.  I drove my 1965 Rambler American daily until it was 45 years...

Electric Cars are now Biting into Gasoline Sales

For my 4 mile commute, an electic car just doesn't make financial sense.  My 2013 Kia Soul turns 10 years old this coming July, and only has 46,000 miles on it.  As I see it, the car is only half used up.  If it were an electric car it would be almost done at 10 years.

    HE Toploader Water Usage

My good old Maytag A606 uses 40 gallons on large, and no extra rinse is necessary.  I suppose the Neptune would save hot water, but not much water overall.

If you like 16mm film projectors

Shy Guy (1947) I know there a quite a few fans of the TV show 'Bewitched' on this forum.  Here's a 16mm educational film with a 19 year old Dick York in the starring role.       I find it especially hillarious when it shows him in the basement working on old radios, because that's a hobby...

If you like 16mm film projectors

I have a 1952 Bell & Howell model 202 for my modest 16mm film collection.  These older models don't have that pesky worm gear that cracks from age.

I thought the Maytag 2-belt washers were the king of commercial top loaders.

I believe that's a Telechron - Revere mechanism.  They sold a lot of mantle clocks with that motor / mechanism.

    Frigidaire Refrigerator Explodes

Frigidaire isn't the only brand of refrigerator that explodes.  There have been quite a few exploding refrigerators from all different brands in the news these last few years.

How likely are you to convert your car to Electric?

I only drive about 4500 miles a year so a conversion would make no sense.  Besides that, my engine doesn't stink, leak, or smoke.

Appliances: The Future is Battery Powered

My gas powered lawn mower is 33 years old and always starts on the first pull.  If it were electric, I wonder how many batteries it would have gone through over 33 years.   That said, I do have a battery powered trimmer, hedge clipper, and chain saw, and I think they're wonderful.  They are...

Speed Queen TR7 with a transmission!

Unless you live where droughts are common, I don't see a problem with using water.  Here in northern New Jersey, water actually falls from the sky on a regular basis.
