    I wouldn't blame the Chinese, I bought a 5000 BTU Haier 20 years ago and it works like new.   Many appliances and electonics sold at Walmart are 'special' Walmart versions.  I buy my appliances at an appliance store.

    "Not so big on fancy features or efficiency." If you're only washing 3 or 4 loads a week, and you live where water actually falls out of the sky, longivity is more imporant that energy efficiency.

    Our 1961 GE Filter Flow would leave oil spots on my mom's nursing uniforms when the transmission started to leak.  It went through 3 transmissions in 15 years.
