    1974 Kenmore “Green Beast” Rebuild

Baseplate is out …and we are off to the machine shop to see about getting a new stainless steel center post for this ol’ lady.

    1974 Kenmore “Green Beast” Rebuild

Tub removal This is only my third Whirlpool belt drive to rebuild and think this tub was the hardest to remove. Unfortunately a hairline crack formed during this process but I should be able to repair it. I’ve contacted a local metal machining company to see about replacing the center post. If...

    1974 Kenmore “Green Beast” Rebuild

Center post Yup! Definitely a bad center post! LOL I shined a light next to it and could see almost completed through it. The post was literally hanging on by a thread.

    1974 Kenmore “Green Beast” Rebuild

Bad news… Got the transmission out and, as suspected, lots of rust inside the center post. Hopefully my donor machine will have a slightly better one. The baseplate is beautifully clean so kind of sad this happened. Under normal circumstances, this machine would be trashed but I’ll get it fixed...

    1974 Kenmore “Green Beast” Rebuild

Just starting to dive into this ‘74 Kenmore washer. The previous owner cited a faulty wigwag as the reason for pulling it from service and I really wish that was the case. The actual issue is a badly corroded center post that began leaking heavily. That got the belt wet and then things don’t...

    BOL Kenmore Durawash

Whirlpool version About 20 years ago I rented an apartment that was remodeled and had a whirlpool dishwasher of this style installed. I think it was maybe one model up as it did have a couple of options but the same wash design. Was a good machine as I recall.

    Sears Kenmore Belt-drive Transmission Rebuild

All back together Did a little more scraping around the edges with a razor blade to make sure all the old gasket was removed and a smooth surface left for the new one. 16 ounces of 90w GL-1 gear oil goes in. I smeared oil on the gasket as well to help seal the deal. Minor spillage but that’s...

    Sears Kenmore Belt-drive Transmission Rebuild

Today I started to tackle my first belt-drive transmission rebuild. This is the transmission that came out of the ‘75 Lady Kenmore I got a few years ago. I had to swap out the gearcase because it was not fully engaging into agitation. I assumed it was a weak spring but turns out that wasn’t the...

How would i go about removing this agitator from a 30 year old GE Filter Flow washer? photo included

Boiling water Sometimes boiling water can help loosen things up. I was lucky to have access to IV fluid pressure bags that did the trick in removing a really stuck agitator.

Look What Came Home to Roost

Pic 4 This fits just under the lid at the back of the round opening. It is to retain the white vinyl splash guard along with a piece of wire.

Filter I installed this filter and housing, both NOS, in the ‘64 Kenmore 70 since the filter was missing.

    GM Frigidaire 1-18’s

I have two GM Frigidaire 1-18’s I’m considering parting with. One is a 76’ model and spotless. The other is ‘75 model also very clean but some pitting on the dashboard. The ‘75 works fine but last time I ran it it leaked some on the spin so the shroud might need to be sealed a little better. The...
