    CLEAN YOUR DRYERS OUT!!!!

My 2 cents My Frigidaire (2006) has a rubber seal over the joint between the fan housing and the exhaust tube. It is like a huge rubber band. Needless to say, the heat dried up the rubber, the band fell apart, and lint and air were pouring into the inside of the dryer. I was noticing lint...

    Has Anyone Used Excello Detergent?

Greeting All! I could not pass this up- only one dollar at the local cheap shop. How do folks think it rates? It's pretty low sudsing, and has a nice scent. It reminds me of Dash (remember that brand, only 3/4 cup?). Bobby in Boston

WO-65 oil and water bellows manufacturer

Thomas: Great idea. I bet there are lots of folks who would love to have some spare bellows. I don't see why it would be that expensive to make a mould of the bellows and crank them out. I bet whoever manufactures the rubber covers for automobile shock absorbers could do this easily. Isn't...

Lubing damper pads: pre 1966 Maytag advice needed

Andrew: The pads on the older style helical drive Tags were felt, not polypropaline.(sp?) I'll check the manual to see what lube they say to use. Poly lube may not be the best for the felt pads. Bobby in Boston

    '61 Maytag A700 first wash

Andrew: The lid switch is actually a mechanism that will physically pull the timer knob in when the lid is opened. They always got out of whack and rusted in place. The old Mallory timers are tempermental too. If the lid switch is placing any pressure on the shut-off arm, the knob may pop in...

    GE Filter-Flo

Scrubflex: If I could make a video I would. I don't have the equipment. We will just have to have another wash-in and be sure to come. I am going to rebuild the clutch soon. I'll take step by step pics of how it's done. I haven't rebuilt a GE clutch in 25 years! Bobby in Boston

    Frigidaire FL water level ?

Thanks guys. I always loved front loaders until I saw how little water these new ones use. My old Dexter and the Ametek Troy Laundrites I used to work with would fill at least 1/3 of the drum and the clothes would really slosh around and get clean. Just for fun I'll tweek this one a bit. Saving old windows and other household greening...

New vinyl replacement windows suck- they are cheesey and ugly, IMO. If you want energy efficiency, just replace the storm windows. The new ones are very air tight, and the integrity of an old house is not destroyed. I think the windows in my office should last another 120 years. I reglazed each...
