I disagree. There should be absolutely no chance of this happening, whether the machine is overloaded or otherwise. The simple fact is that costs have been reduced to the point where safety is becoming an issue and that isn't on. Tom.

I think these machines have a welded outer tub, that's why bearings aren't available. Might be time to take advantage of your Hotpoint 5 year parts guarantee. Tom.

Enamel inner drum Wow, this one seems to have the vitreous enamelled inner drum, very rare indeed. I believe they changed to stainless steel in 1976. Tom

That's an FL1016, the last 1000rpm spin model with the vitreous enamel outer tub and cast iron bearing crosspiece. Good, solid machine made just before Electrolux started cutting costs. Tom.
