Green Stamps/Gold Bond Stamps buys a Maytag washer?

trading stamps Originally here in the Los Angeles area S&H Greenstamps were the most common, then Blue Chip Stamps came in and sorta of wiped them out. I spent many an evening pasting them into the books for my Grandmother.

Guess what I brought home today!

bleach dispenser "I would bet the bleach dispenser is not timed." I think it IS timed, it's probably the type where there's a plastic reservoir with a hose leading to the outer tub. There's a plastic plunger rod that plugs the hole in the bottom of the reservoir that's lifted by a solenoid...

Help With Math, Calculating Total Amps

AC to DC "In the days before solid state recitifiers, AC was converted to DC using a device that looked similar to a giant generator, but what it used was a series of brushes that would "turn over" at the same frequency as the AC current, effectively converting it to DC." That's the device...

"Traffic + stick-shift (manual transmission)" In NYC?! NOT! I live in L.A., also a big No-No. 10 miniutes of driving in a stick shift car around here has me gritting my teeth. It;s already enough of a pain with an AUTOMATIC transmission driving in this town.

Dishwasher re-heat and other "hidden" features

water heating Often even vintage dishwashers would use the heating element to at least keep the water hot during washing and rinsing. Like was mentioned, virtually any US made dishwasher from the late 60's to now have soft food disposers or self-cleaning filters, even the BOL models. My '88...

Need advice: How is the performance on a vintage dishwasher?

vintage upper rack cleaning was an issue with the older machines. GE and Kenmore adressed this issue fairly early with "Power Tower" and "Roto Rack" respectively intorduced in the early 60's

1967 Kenmore Washer/Dryer Combo Part needed:

cap composition "but I'm thinking that because of more Water being in the Drum of the Combo's during the Wash and Rinses, it would have to be the Plastic Cap, so it would last longer." Unless the cap is made of stainless steel

Need advice: How is the performance on a vintage dishwasher?

vintage dishwashing This is probably an imipeller=type machine, and in my exprience, they clean just fine especailly with hot enough water & current detergents. The 2 main drawbacks about vintage dishwashers is the lack of the food waste disposer, which is why things had to be pre-rinsed, a...

R&H "I always wondered that if you used the Rinse/Hold feature, would that speed-up the rusting of the racks since they stay moist? I understand the the interior tub of the DW will not be affected, but, what about other parts remaining 'wet'? Thoughts? " Another reason to leave the door...

    Fabric Softener Dispenser

gunked up FS dispenser is this the type that is under the top on the left front corner and has 2 compartments, one for bleach and one for bleach? If so, they are a pain to clean if only because of access. If it is this type, very important that the FS be diluted with water before adding

    Dishwasher- *RInse Only* Cycle

It wouldn't have to be done the instant the machine stopped, could be done next time one passes through the kitchen. Certaihly not worth making a special trip, they wouldn't start to smell THAT quick.
