    1955 GE COMBO Restoration

Jon, Is the 2 terminal end of the thermostat a switch that opens with temp rise or is it just controlled by dial position? Hook up an ohm meter to it and turn the dial to see if it opens and closes. If it's temp controlled it should stay closed in all positions. I know the 3 terminal end is a...

I HAD to Mess with the Maytag....

Non-draining Maytag-- The probable reason the washer would not drain when it overflowed is due to belt slippage, Maytags work with a fairly loose pump belt, as soon as a few drops of water hit the belt they will stop pumping.

Hamilton dryer--- Yes, That's one of the very first Hamilton dryers.

Lookie Lookie what I found and is all mine! ;)

Frigidaire dryer--- The best way to fix up the dryer is to get the WCI maintenance kit part # 5304461262, It includes the front glides, felt seal, rear bearing, belt, and idler pulley. All the normal wear parts for less then GE will charge for one of the parts.

Suds Saver Very interesting suds saver system on the early 140S model. Didn't know they used an in sink transfer valve on the first model, before going to the normal solenoid suds valve inside the washer. But I still perfer the Bendix boy-

    Most disappointing wash ever

Neptune commercial washers I have been maintaining 16 Maytag Neptune commercial washers in a local condo. These have a 2 minute prewash then drain fully and refill for the wash. If you add the detergent at the start of the cycle most of it will go down the drain before the wash begins. Next...

Maytag N2L: Getting the old threaded discharge head onto a new hose.

Hose end---- I removed one of those hose ends and it was just glued on. The rubber and glue were so hard I had to cut the hose off then dig out the remaining hose with a small screw driver.

    KDS-58 Rack odd question

Foot pedals--- The foot pedals control the hot and cold water at the sink faucet. It's just two dishwasher valves connected to the supply lines of the faucet. I have wired it to turn on the cold water when the disposer is running. I have thought about installing a sump heater and thermostat in...

    KDS-58 Rack odd question

KitchenAid Parts, The tub is the same as a KitchenAid KDSS-16, but no dispenser in the door. As you can see I have made several modifications, I blocked up the overflow drain in the right rear corner with a air vent from a later KA, and installed a float switch in the left front corner. I also...

    KDS-58 Rack odd question

My Hobart, Is a model WMP-CL, It was built in the early 70's. It had a chlorine injection system that I have removed, so it had no booster heater. It has a 4 minute cycle, wash and two rinses. It cleans very well, but the dishes must be freshly soiled, no dried or baked on soil. It's great for...

    KDS-58 Rack odd question

Dish rack--- I use a KitchenAid lower rack in my Hobart WMP dishwasher, so I am sure a commercial rack should fit your KA DW. I may have an extra carrier for my Hobart that should work in a KA DW. Jeff

Help! Kenmore TT #22401- 7 flashes.. 'clean' ?

Heater problem... The electronic control has detected no temperature rise during the wash cycle. You can clear the memory and try running it again, press the high temp. option button, then air dry, then high temp. again, then air dry, within 10 seconds. If you enter the test cycle properly all...

Circuit board needed for Maytag electric dryer!!

Check before ordering--- I think the circuit board has nothing to do with the heating circuit. The heat is switched on and off by the selector switch. The electronic controll just stops the dryer when the clothes are dry. Be sure to check the heating element. all thermostats, motor switch, and...

    Ozone Lamp question

I would have to think it does slightly, but have not noticed any difference with the dryers I have worked on. Would make an interesting test. Jeff

    Ozone Lamp question

Ozone lamp, The ozone bulb is a mercury arc lamp, the filament is just to preheat the mercury vapor untill the arc starts. It must be used with some type of ballast to limit the current flow, a 40 watt bulb or a magnetic ballast were used. Here is a link to a newer style bulb that will work...

    Chase chrome percolator problem

Thermal fuse---- The loose part is a thermal fuse. If the unit over heats, most likley plugged in without water, the solder melts and breaks the circuit to the heater. I would try to resolder the 2 parts back together and reinstall them.

well now i should never say never

Door Seal The door seal is still available, part # Q000129491, but expensive, $107. I ordered one a few years ago. I have the same washer but with the coin box. Mine was built in 1967.
