Red jewel lens needed for hot dog electrocuter!

"Are they safe to use? What would happen if someone did forget to turn it off?" As mentioned, conductivity drops with the water content of the food. Eventually it will be something very close to zero.

Red jewel lens needed for hot dog electrocuter!

"I don't know, somehow I find the use of the word "electrocuted" not synonymous with having an appetite. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just too much of a traditionalist." If you use a microwave oven, electrocution is nothing compared to irradiation.

Red jewel lens needed for hot dog electrocuter!

Beautiful piece imo. From eBay and elsewhere they don't seem to be that rare, so you could always use the missing lens as an excuse to buy another one :) I've never seen or used one but reviews claim they leave the centers of hot dogs lukewarm. It would make sense, conductivity will drop as...

Why is mac & cheese so hard to get right?

"I'd probably be more tempted to add bacon" If you like the basic taste of boxed it can be doctored up pretty easily. The main issue is salt, it's already high and the most common additions (bacon, ham etc) add more on top of it. Best as a side dish imo. Another trick is to make your favorite...

Why is mac & cheese so hard to get right?

People grow up favoring certain foods, e.g. Kraft blue box mac & cheese, and nothing else tastes "as good" because it's not what we're used to. In this case, nothing else tastes quite like processed, highly concentrated and salted dry cheese powder. It's usually the "bite" that's missing in...

Figureing the wiring on ATT Uverse

If you haven't already, try "uverse jack diagram" in Google. The first several links (mostly forum discussions) looked promising.

Confusion about recent SQ top loaders

Bill, the inner tub has a seam but it's smooth as silk in our AWS76. No sign of clothes damage so far (~7 years). The one issue we did have with our machine was with the fabric softener dispenser, on top of the agitator. Ours had a sharp edge at the bottom, and after the third time slicing...

    amazing how far we've come

What's ironic imo is that, as we mature, we naturally develop tastes for things we didn't have as kids. E.g. if you would have put kale in front of me as an 8 year-old, it would have definitely wound up hidden under some other item on my plate. Today it's one of my favorite veggies and it's...

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

"France has a *much* wider selection of detergents than the UK & Ireland." You can count on nobody outside France being aware of that, now that Google is censoring, excuse me I mean manipulating search results. Including international sites.

    amazing how far we've come

Dave, there is no medical evidence to suggest Strontium-90 has any nutritive value in humans. In fact studies indicate there is no such thing as a safe level of exposure to ionizing radiation. BTW the same is true for radioactive cesium. I think we'll be hearing a lot more about that one in the...

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

I think the push for smaller packaging, along with reduced shipping costs etc make manufacturers develop these more concentrated formulas. But at some point the cost-cutting starts taking a toll on product performance. Original Downy softened better (maybe not "more"), and didn't build up over time.

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

"cut the current "April Fresh" Downy with Downy unscented, 50-50, and that works well for me. Almost getting to softener season....October/March." Softener use in our house is limited to socks, and we do the same cutting, except it's more like a 90%/10% ratio of unscented/scented. Just several...

    Big News

I think we'll be seeing a lot of sales to overseas/multinational interests in the coming years. Our private business sector is being literally disassembled, and our federal government is doing absolutely nothing to stop it.

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

For general floor/wall/etc cleaning we've never found anything with a better residual scent than Spic 'N Span powder. Used in recommended amounts it's very pleasant and the scent is gone altogether within a day.

    Yep. Here's a 1959 model:

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

Joe, your story reminded me of Barbicide, the blue disinfectant liquid barbers keep their tools in. Years ago a friend (who always smelled so fantastic I finally asked what his secret was) clued me in on its almost-aphrodesiac properties, especially when mixed with small bits of decent cologne...

What is your Favorite Detergent/Cleaner Scent?

"Smell is a huge part of why I choose anything, as long as it doesn't interfere with the purpose it should serve. I also have a lot of memories and emotions that tie directly with certain scents." For a trip back to your childhood (at least it was for me) try a jug of Charlie's Laundry Powder...

    What brand is this?

Here's the best shot I could find. It's from an eBay auction. Just offhand I'm not convinced it's the same crest. If they went to the trouble of hiding the product name, the crest might also be from another source (unrelated to appliances) and used to cover the real one. Also Fender bought...

2015 Speed Queens with Electronic Controls

I'm a little confused by the chart's 4 gallon rinse cycle starting in 2018. In a top loader that's enough for three or four pairs of underwear. Of a really skinny person.

Smeg just relased a dishwasher monster

Nice units imo but I implore them to never start any model numbers with MA.
