    "The Consumer Game" from 1974

Stumbled across this while looking up another program on the University of Georgia Library's website. Check out 3:08 - 8:56. What I wouldn't give to have a set like this for that price! https://kaltura.uga.edu/media/t/1_zk0v754d

Automatic dishwasher detergent that will not dull dishes?

@ wayupnorth Sadly, he's not going to stop. I had to resort to blocking him.

    A Tide question...

Ok - I'm coming to the experts on this one. At one point a few years back, Tide had a "10X Heavy Duty liquid" formula. If I recall correctly, it was not on the market for that long. Yet, there still seems to be info about it online, and some of the marketing/advertising claims seem similar to...

Haha!! This is the town next door to Mrs. Volvoman and I!!! Methinks I'll do a drive past it...

    My Detergents Arrived

@ Combo52 John - a couple of questions here... 1: "..[T]he 30 or 40 microwaves we have in our collection there are models that cook from multiple directions at once..." Are these new? Or vintage? I ask, because we've got a Sharp Carousel from the mid 1990s that we're hemming and hawing over...

You asked for a Horizontal-Axis Top Load washer?

Reply 36 I do. Mrs. V and I were thinking of buying one for a washer-less friend of ours. When I visited TLA's website, I saw that it was no longer listed. Ultimately, I was told through chat that the supplier's costs went up, and they'd be losing money on it. They're hoping to offer it again...

It's That Time of Year Again, 2.0: Condiments for hot dogs and sausages

Now I'm hungry!! For hot dogs...BBQed onions and chili. For my personal weakness - 7Eleven "Cheeseburger Rollers"...relish, chili, cheese, mayo, and onions. And for sausage (we usually grill sausage over an open wood fire when we go camping) - ketchup, mustard, and onions. Mrs. Volvoman...

Whirlpool portable dishwasher - to repair or not to repair....

Ok...I'm hoping you can give me some advice here. About two years ago, I purchased an older (1995) Whirlpool portable dishwasher off of Facebook Marketplace. Model # is DP840CWDB2, serial FE2801357. And up until now, it has worked flawlessly. In mid-May, I ran it on its usual cycle. After it...

Reply # 20... "...I bet this was Jerome who revived this thread..." I'd bet every last dollar I make that it was. But much like yourself, I also blocked him - for the same reasons. I'm surprised nobody has banned him yet.

It's That Time Of Year Again! What Is Your AC Thermostat Set To?

@ Launderess - Christmas card? Heck, Mrs. V and I were celebrated by PSE&G with a bronze statue at their HQ and qualified for the Platinum Bill!!! Hahaha!!!! Actually, our electric isn't that bad. We're part of one of those solar farms, and our bills have been pretty ok.

It's That Time Of Year Again! What Is Your AC Thermostat Set To?

You'd hate being in my home... ...currently, the thermostat is set to 69 degrees. What can I say? The Mrs. and I absolutely *loathe* being hot. The colder it is inside during the summer, the better.

    Ariel Multi - initial thoughts…

More on Ariel Multi An update on cleaning power - average, at best. It did a decent job on grungy kitchen towels, but it did not fully remove the grease stain on my one shirt - even having used a pre-treater (Shout aerosol). I re-washed with Liquid Tide, and the grease stain came out. Our...

    Ariel Multi - initial thoughts…

After much hemming and hawing, Mrs. Volvoman and I bit the bullet and purchased “Ariel Multi”. Here are our initial impressions so far… 1: This is a big box. According to Procter & Gamble website, it should be able to provide us with 95 loads of laundry. 2: In typical P&G fashion, the...

    Ariel multi

I haven't tried it, but TikTok seems to love it. My problem with it, is that - unless I'm reading the ingredient list wrong - it doesn't contain enzymes.

The Downy that SHOULD be sold in stores…

Wow Never knew this, either. I'll have to see what the ingredients are in Plebian Downy. Thanks for this information!

    Cold water washing has arrived

@ Reply 72 - Jetcone Hi Jon - I actually have a review on here! (https://www.automaticwasher.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-VIEWTHREAD.cgi?95754_4) The more we use it, the more impressed we are with it. It's nothing like the Downy that is sold to us mere mortals. The consistency is substantially thinner...

    Cold water washing has arrived

Reply 68 Jon - We purchased the Downy Professional from Staples, and it was delivered right to our door (I should know - Mrs. Volvoman grabbed it off the porch). I'm torn between trying the liquid Tide Professional and the Powder version. I'd love to know what the liquid one smells like, as...

The Downy that SHOULD be sold in stores…

To build off an earlier thread about P&G’s commercial/professional line, the Mrs. and I decided to splurge and get a bottle of “Downy Professional”…and boy, are we surprised! First, this does not smell anything like the sweet, sickly scents that P&G sells at your local supermarket. Rather, the...

    Cold water washing has arrived

@ Jetcone Jon - Interesting! As soon as Mrs. V and I finish our Indian Tide and Ariel liquids, I'll have to give it a shot. Apparently, there's also a "Professional" line of the Tide liquid and pods. I wonder what they smell like. Your comment about finding the pro-powder on Quill sent me...

    Cold water washing has arrived

You mention the.... ....scent, being almost "60's" -ish. 60's-ish Tide? Or 60's-ish, in general? I guess the biggest question here, is does it smell like the Tide powder currently available (which is sickeningly sweet), or is it a more tolerable scent?
