    Whatever Happened?

@ angus I'm surprised that the Wisk liquid held up after all these years. You'd think that the scent would have "turned", and that the liquid would have separated. Is this not the case with "vintage" liquids?

    Henkel “E”?

@ Yuccadew It's pretty damn super. I can't tell you how nice it is to have laundry detergent that smells like...well...detergent. I'd love to try the liquid version, assuming I can find it.

    Henkel “E”?

So.... Mrs. Volvoman ran "E" through its paces this evening. Overall consensus between us, is that it seemed to do a great job, and both Mrs. V and I loved the scent (she's currently inhaling her hoodie as we speak). I'll have to check what kind of suds it makes on the next washload.

    Henkel “E”?

Howdy all - Came across a detergent at my favorite Polish market called “E”. Looks as though it’s made by Henkel. I guess I’ll throw this question to the detergent experts. Why is the name simply “E”? And how is it in comparison to Persil powder? Just purchased a 77 wash load box of it. I’m...

    Reckitt Benckiser and laundry detergent.

@ Reply 6 Jerome - To answer a question, and rebuke a statement... Q: When I say the Reckitt Benckiser of laundry detergents, I am talking the competitor to Tide. For example, Finish is the competitor to Cascade. Wouldn't Persil be the Finish of laundry detergents? A: I mean, if you want to...

    Reckitt Benckiser and laundry detergent.

@ Reply 4 Huh? I'm not sure of your question, but here's my $.02 on the topic... 1: P&G, for all intents and purposes, has the primary lock on the laundry detergent market. Be it TOL products (Tide, Ariel, Dreft), MOL (Gain, Tide Studio, Ivory), or BOL (Era, Cheer, Tide Simply), there's a...

Those detergent pods (both laundry and dishwasher)

As I was running our dishwasher (and washing machine) today, I got to thinking... What companies make private-label detergent pods? I know that Huish/Sun/Henkel had the monopoly on private-label products, at least when it came to laundry detergents. However, I recently purchased laundry...

    German Persil

What a neat store! It’s called Biedronka, for those in the NJ/NY area. The detergent section alone was a feast for the eyes. I had to show remarkable restraint! I’ve taken a picture of the section, as well as what I brought home.

    German Persil

Reply # 15 Yup. I know where I'm going to after work today! Thanks for the heads-up!

    Miele Laundry Product Scents…

I’ve tried both. Interestingly enough, I’ve purchased the fabric softener capsules from the Miele corporate store, and used them in my GE’s dispenser (they’re quite easy to open). Thoughts? Cocoon has a deep, warm scent. Kind of reminds me of musk, vanilla, and sandalwood, with a hint of...

    German Persil

Since we’re on the topic of Persil… Found these gems at my local European Grocer today. They also had German Persil pods, in a 76 count bag…but I was not spending $40 for them!

On The Quest For A New Powdered Laundry Detergent

Reply #94 ...What was the Polish grocer that you found this at? Did they have any other detergents?

    German Persil

I use German Persil liquid. There's a "European" grocery/provisions store near me in NJ (it's no bigger than a 7-Eleven) that carries both the powder and liquid, along with Lenor, Ariel, etcetera. I haven't purchased the powder, as it's in a bag (we prefer our powder in a box, with a measuring...

Help with determining age of vintage Oster blender

So, here’s one. We have an old Oster blender (in a lovely shade of avocado green). And we love it. It’s a beast. But we’re curious as to how old it is. I tried calling Oster, but they were of no help. I don’t see a serial number, but I do show a service number of 869-15H. Anything specific...

After driving the same car for 16 years, I bought a new one!

!!! Love the car...love that it's a 6MT....and love the color (so does Mrs. Volvoman, as it's the same color as her XC70)! From both the Mrs. and I - drive it in good health and happiness!

@ Reply 13 The only powdered Tide varieties left are... - Original Tide - Mountain Spring Tide - Tide Ultra Oxi - Tide with Bleach - Tide with Downy Clean Breeze and Free are discontinued.

Electric Cars are now Biting into Gasoline Sales

@ Reply 22 "...a car with a 300 mile range is going to be much more pleasant day-to-day than a 600+ mile car..." Yes, but what happens if you're the type of person that doesn't use their car as a "commuter appliance" or grocery getter? As an example, my wife and I enjoy our long-distance...

Electric Cars are now Biting into Gasoline Sales

@ Reply 18 "...Once that is put in place, think of how nice it will be to subscribe to a transport SERVICE instead of having to buy, drive, insure, fix, garage, clean, and be licensed to drive a vehicle. AND you no longer need to be concerned about driving..." Yeah, no thanks. I love driving.

the dishwasher detergent thing and the bleach

"...You could get around that by using a detergent that contains bleach..." Which begs the question: are there any dishwasher detergents left, that actually contain chlorine bleach? I'm not talking about the commercial variety, but a product that one can easily find on any store shelf?
