    Sad Day-KDS-18

Where in Texas? I've scored a big fat zero in my search for a Hobart KA here at home. Beat to hell units pop up from time to time , but they're good for parts only.... if at all.

    Can you name these

Boom box I actually owned that exact model boom box in the 80s. It was a high end model in it's day. Recorded and sounded great. Styx, Pat Travers, Thin Lizzy and several young ladies of low self esteem come to mind. Hoo Rah!

    Vintage laundry room ideas ...

Fake window You could do florescent strips or LED. The strips could be hidden behind the window frame and a white reflector, an old mirror, or even aluminum foil on the wall could redirect the light so you don't see the bulbs. It should make the room feel less closed in and lifeless.

    Since Christmas is coming...Vintage lights!!

Der Bingle and the Andrews sisters That's my first memory of christmas! That, Elvis and the Rat Pack! I'll have to get the Evergleam put up this year! I try to do holiday stuff like Christmas, Thanksgiving etc. so I don't forget how. That way if I should ever meet a lady that's NOT the center...

    Vintage laundry room ideas ...

dreary windowless....... Put in a fugazi window. Mount an old window a few inches off the wall, spray fog the glass, back light it, and add a tie back and a sheer. Instant sunny day cheer. It could change the whole vibe of the room and you can build it cheap out of discards and scraps. Kind of...

Deep well stove element. How was it used?

low wattage well Swap the burners in and out as needed. The best of both worlds.

FEster's Maytag dutch oven gas range.

Valve cream Do you get that at the hardware or at a plumbing and contractor industrial supply type joint?

Deep well stove element. How was it used?

Kelvinator deep well Look up a small fabrication shop that does aluminum work. Get a piece 1/16 - 1/4 aluminum plate. Cut it to fit with a jig saw or band saw. A few buck or a case of beer should get you a nice tig or mig welding job done. A small shop will generally do this where the bigger...

    Making London Broil

    Move Over, Mustang!

Whirlcool knows his stuff. That Falcon style front end was a weak point for the 'Stang. Chevy had a similar set up in the ChevyII / Nova platform untill, IIRC, 68, when they canned that for the Camaro style. It took a bit of work to make early Mustangs compete in the twisties. Just look at the...

A favor to beg of unimatic1140! With the groups support of course :-)

Recipes If and when you all decide to get a recipe box set up, I have a fair collection of old cook books to pull from. Most of them are vintage 30's - 70's, regional or DIY from scratch types. I've got a small book case full and some more in boxes. It's amazing how different a common, tired...

FEster's Maytag dutch oven gas range.

Cook book / instructions Yeah, I got the book for 4.99 on ebay. Nice looking kitchen and stove in the pics too. Any suggestions on lubing the sticky valves? Graphite or penetrating oil? It isn't oxygen or acetylene so reacativity shouldn't be an issue.

FEster's Maytag dutch oven gas range.

Progress I still haven't been able to putz around with the oven yet. What with geting the garden tilled and planted for fall/winter, after a ton of rain has FINALLY passed and being on call at work, time has been short. I did score the Maytag owners manual and cook book for the old girl for...

Manning Bowman Twinover waffle iron restoration

Bead blasting and solvent cleaning Be sure the glass bead is kept very fine or use the fine powdery used media that is "worn out" and ready to discard. Too rough a finish will make food stick like JB weld! A ruined aluminum frying pan is how I know. TKO orange clean and a scotchbrite pad is...

FEster's Maytag dutch oven gas range.

Hey Y'all, I just scored a vintage maytag range for only a buck and a quarter, down from $350.00. While these things abound in the north and midwest, they're rare as hen's teeth down here in Cajunland. The humidity rusts everything to pieces! I could use some help with the date code and any...

    Keg cooler / tap handles

Great Info ! You all have given me some good ideas to work with. Thanks! I dug the brewery link too. I may have to procure one of their taps. I'll support any independent brewery that isn't making that generic crappy beer like Bud, Miller, Etc. That stuff is nasty! Thanks again and keep those...

    Noooooooooooooooo!

nasty, foodlike scents (pet peeve) I worked a 7&7 hitch some years back and my coworker wold buy scented laundry products that smelled like fruit or sometimes baked goods. This guy 's nose must not have worked too well, because I swear to Christ he smelled like a coffee cake floating in a bowl...

    Keg cooler / tap handles

beer and brewing Way cool set up. I have a neighbor the home brews in bottles and we're looking into doing kegs. Just got the cooler so we're still in the exploration stage with the help of a local liquor store that supplies home brewers and wine makers.

How to keep tools from rusting in a damp basement.

I slop a little motor oil on a shop rag and wipe everthing down before I save the tools after a job. It works in SW Louisiana.
