So I picked up a dryer today...

That poor woman, a brand new DE806 in the garage and she has to line dry her whole life. They should have hooked the husband up to a 220v line. (BTW, wouldn't that chrome strip indicate no later than a 1971 vintage, thus making it 43 years old?)

A couple of concerns about my Maytag 806 washer

He lubricated the brake. Did he check and grease the motor glides? Possibly the squeal on the spin could be a worn/dry tub bearing. If you're feeling brave remove the front panel, run it through a cycle and watch for any metal to metal contact in the cabinet and the location of the noise...

    Weedeater Trimmer

had it 3-4 years so I doubt the store would replace It's worth a try, all they do is slap a defective decal on and back it goes to the manufacturer. You'd be surprised at what disgruntled customers can accomplish standing at the return counter with said defective item in their hands. Also, I...

    Weedeater Trimmer

I'd take it back to where it was purchased and ask for an exchange. Explain how its been a problem since new, be persistent, they may give you new one, but don't take no for an answer until you've talked to a manager. It helps if you saved some of the packaging or paperwork and purchased...

Sears "burning money" & closing stores

Betcha Eddie thinks he's doing a bang up job On Tuesday afternoon I went to Sears at the Willow Brook mall to get a new lawn tractor blade. There was just a handful on cars in the parking lot on a sunny afternoon. This is a high volume mall and Sears has been there since it was built in the...

Sears "burning money" & closing stores

Sears Essentials". Kmart closed for about a month, Ah, the saga of Bradlees-Kmart-Sears Essentials-Kmart in Parsippany N.J. Kmart in goes back even further, to the 70's when they were up Rt. 46 in the former J.M. Fields. Anyway, in the old location they had an automotive section that...

    Speed Queen Washer Burning Odor

Hope this solves the issue The washer was humming away nicely when I left so I think that did the trick. Could have been the original drive belt for all I know, the washer is a 2006 ASW-52NW.

    Speed Queen Washer Burning Odor

That's a great deal for all those parts. Actually, I ended up ordering the kit from Appliance Parts Pros, it was about $5 more but arrived the next day, still a good deal as the belt alone is $18: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/speedqueen-kit-idler-lever-959p3-ap4489045.html The PWS...

Proud new owner!! Needs guidance :)

will also remove the front of the dryer I would remove the front panel on the washer as well. Its just two screws on the toe kick and the panel lifts out and up, like a car hood, to release the top clips. Installation is the reverse. Remember to unplug the power cord first. Check for evidence...

    The Right Clothes Washer

you slide in a card, and out comes your cash...... Wow, sounds too good to be true. However, there are internet sites where you mail in the card and they send back a check. I was going to suggest selling the Sears card at a discount, then use the proceeds towards a Speed Queen washer.

    Speed Queen Washer Burning Odor

most SQ TL washers will never need an IP Well, strangely the kit which supposedly includes the belt, pulley, lever and hardware cost $18+, yet the drive belt purchased alone is $22+. I ordered the kit, we'll see what shows up.

A couple of concerns about my Maytag 806 washer

When was the last time the belts, particularly the drive belt was replaced. Replacement is about as simple as it gets for those. The motor slides could be worn, binding and/or need lubrication, Damper pads as mentioned could also be worn and/need lube. The indexing tub could be tweaked by...

    Speed Queen Washer Burning Odor

Update Okay, I finally got down to check out my friends SQ washer. The belt was indeed very worn, glazed and cracked. But the machine is working okay, albeit running smaller loads to be on the safe side. I was planning to install an idler pulley kit while I'm in there. Is this the correct...
