    New Dishwasher Suggestions?

Can't complain about mine: Are your sure about that, I think I see scrambled egg remnants on one of those dinner plates? Further update on the new DW: They got the Frigidaire working again so they are going to hold off on a new one for now. Thanks for all the advice.

    Powdered detergents clogging septic lines?

bathtub or sink in that same bathroom will make a gurgling As Yogitunes suggested, it sounds like a venting issue and/or partially blocked adjacent waste lines . Every so often I drag the garden hose into the house, remove the strainer and blast out the shower drain. Even with new 2'' PVC...

Well I've got it apart, now what?

There is some white crud on the walls of the housing That is probably the biggest concern, could be the result of a leaking tub stem seal. Check for signs of water stains on top of the transmission.

    Powdered detergents clogging septic lines?

laundry detergents have often become full of solids I gather this means adding supplemental STTP wouldn't quite solve the problem either as the offending solids are still there..

    GE Dryer

Another good thing if the front panel can be salvaged; the serial and model # are located there in. Precious few people would ever notice the transplant if you find a 60's or 70's era cabinet.

    GE Dryer

I've never seen the insides of a pedal door model, but perhaps the whole front panel/door assemble can bolted onto the donor cabinet along with the top cover and console. Note the color difference between the enameled top cover and yellowed painted cabinet. No doubt there is more rust inside...

Assuming the AWN 542 goes away at end of 2014

I was fortunate by comparison No offense intended, I was simply referring to the state of the economy in general.

    GE Dryer

I'd say that would be good candidate for a donor cabinet from a newer model. Plenty of those still around.

Assuming the AWN 542 goes away at end of 2014

I was also one of the fortunate ones A very sorry state of affairs indeed when someone takes a $5000 pay cut, an increased workload, a 30% hit to their retirement savings and yet considers themselves to be one of the "fortunate".

    Maytag A608

I'm ordering parts tonight The agitator shaft kit (part # 22002124) includes a new stem seal/boot and is a better deal than buying the parts individually. http://https//www.appliancezone.com/ShowProduct.aspx?ID=2253&gclid=CLSQlYbZq7oCFcae4AodEB4AuA

Parting with an A806 Original Series

You may want to take off the front panel and post a photo of the insides. Just remove the two lower screws and raise the panel outward from the bottom.

Parting with an A806 Original Series

Fair Craigslist asking price is $50-75 to someone who can appreciate it. Appears to have some rust on the cabinet bottom, not a good sign, could mean a water leak that has been going on for a long time.

    New Dishwasher Suggestions?

Update Looks like they may go with an LG dishwasher because they got a package deal of LG kitchen appliances from Best Buy. I suggested Bosch but they had never heard of it..

    Filter-Flo set (dryer) update

I took a look at the glides, and one does have torn plastic The rear drum bearing is also nylon and a common wear item, I'd check that as well. The updated replacement is only a couple of dollars on Ebay and does away with some spacers. (#543 on the drum diagram).

carefully and slowly drill out the HOT water side I wonder if the same can be done on older Maytag inlet valves?? The hot water fill seems awfully slow on my A712.

Speed Queen AWN542: I've Joined The Club!

There are some grooves running The Amana built washer and the AWS52 I recently pick up for a friend, both have those grooves. It appears to be grinding marks on the weld seam where the two portions of the tub are joined. * Yogi can you go over the process again to drill out the SQ hot side...

    Woohoo! Got my first set!!!!

So truck it is. Hope you have ramps. The washer weights 240 lbs. No way one man can lift that safely onto to the bed of a pickup, too awkward. Something is bound to get damaged, either your lower back, the washer, or both
