    Norgetag bahaving badly?

A friend called because her washer wasn't spinning the water out of her clothes. Upon exam, the washer agitates fine but when it goes into spin, the tub will spin but the agitator continues to agitate (spinning and agitating at the same time). The water pumps out fine but the tub never gets up...

    Vintage Finds On Craigslist...

Not solid tubs but still would have been a nice set to have. Sadly, they're sold. Did anyone here get them, I'm hoping?!

    GE dryer question

Maybe a stupid question, but here goes. Can the motor start switch be replaced on the newer GE dryers (model # DBXR463EDOWW) or does the entire motor have to be replaced? Friends have one with heat issues that I think I've traced to the motor switch. Sometimes heats, sometimes doesn't. When...

    Kelvinator Dryer?

I have 2 washers to match that dryer! One is a porcelain tub but BOL model that I use to wash the dogs bedding, shop rags, etc. The other has a few more options, has seen little use in it's lifetime, but has the plastic tub. I'll probably pass this one on to one of the needy families in the...

    Older A/C Memeories...

Ooooh yes, I remember those sounds from our Weather Wheel Fedders, too. I can hear them in my 1957 Coldspot and early 60's GE that I have now,but not as pronounced as the Fedders. There's nothing like sleeping to the sound of a window unit AC!

    Thanks, I'll try that.

    Dancing Estate

I recently got my hands on an Estate washer (mod. # TAWS800JQ) that will not spin smoothly---even when empty! Yes, I've adjusted the leveling legs, it is sitting firmly on the concrete floor in my workshop. Even with no clothes, this thing starts waltzing across the floor. Even more strange...

    Kelvinator from the 80's????

I have 2 of those Kelvinators from the same era, a BOL and a MOL. Though they're nothing special, they are fun to play with! The angel wing agitator and indexing tubs do create some drama. I use them primarily for dog bedding and shop rags. Cleaning the bed o' nails filter is a pain, however!

    Norge Burpilator

Hey Joseph (Spinout) could you post some pictures, or better yet videos, of your Pencrest/Hotpoint? These are my dream machines. I've only seen one in operation and that was way back in the 70's.

The Easy That Wasn't So Easy

Great find and great save. You make so many of the rest of us green with envy!! I'm glad you explained the Easy/Hotpoint relationship. The only Easy automatic I've ever seen was a Hotpoint clone. I knew there was a connection there so now I understand. I love the way appliance makers once...

Sears Homart Belt Drive Window Fans.

Those are GREAT fans, got a couple of them myself. May I suggest taking the belt off the fan that has one, take that to the parts or hardware store to get your replacement. As already mentioned, specify fractional horsepower belt.

    Vintage Westinghouse fan question...

I agree. These are great fans and if the wheel below the motor is turning, you should be OK. If it's not turning, go to the AFCA website(Antique fan collector's Assn.) and ask for advice--plenty of experts there to help you out.

    Vintage Fan Thread

This is my Gaylord circulator with a 36 inch cast blade, electric air fresheners, and built in ozone generator. This fan has been in my family for generations but no one can tell me how or why this would have been used in a home setting which is the only place I remember it ever being used. I...

Various subjects in key of M for next month

How about: Mathes cooler fans and air conditioners and Curtis Mathes electronics. Marquette washers, dryers. Motown records. Martin gas heaters. Yes, I do remember maypops, still see them growing in the wild around here occasionally.
