Super structure... The lower bearing is still in place, I haven't decided if I am changing it out or not. I see/feel nothing wrong with it right now - but then again, if I've got the whole thing torn apart...

Help needed 1999 (not quite vintage) Amana washer question

Here is the transmission, brake assembly, pulley, and associated hardware all cleaned up. I didn't take any pictures of them dirty, because I thought that surely no one would care to ever see this repair posted on here... I'm surprised at how much the brake resembles an automotive clutch...

Help needed 1999 (not quite vintage) Amana washer question

Well, if you're interested OK.......but, keep in mind... this ain't a DD Hoover triplet-tub, or a Apex Duo-Matic. Nothin' special like that. It is in fact a 1999 Amana washing machine (I understand built by Speed Queen) and it's just a plain ole' washing machine. Nothing fancy. I had to dig...

Help needed 1999 (not quite vintage) Amana washer question

Thank you! The nut was removed in a counter-clockwise direction after clamping the transmission to the super structure, and putting a 3/4" iron pipe through said super structure onto which I placed my 189 lbs. of human being so that the entire assembly would not rotate. Then by using a 24"...

Help needed 1999 (not quite vintage) Amana washer question

I am replacing the bearings, spin hub, seals and belt etc. on a (I think) 1999 Amana Automatic Washer. Could anyone PLEASE tell me which direction this 1 1/2" nut is supposed to turn to remove??? This would be looking from the top of the tub down. Does it turn counter-clockwise (lefty loosy) or...

A clock restoration, and a new (old) electric range.

I found the patent for the surface unit controls.... Which tells me two things: 1. The indicators were a LF&C invention and, 2. The patent was applied for in 1941 and issued in 1944. So, I'm thinkin' the range was built sometime after 1941 perhaps during the "patent applied for" period. Again...

A clock restoration, and a new (old) electric range.

Hi Lawrence, No, that view is my home office/dispaly area. My workshop is the garage. I do about half of my job at home, the rest out "in the field" as they say. I started out being interested in vacuums cleaners as a child but in the past few years have moved on to other appliances as well. I...

A clock restoration, and a new (old) electric range.

Forgot to answer...... The clock works did have "gunk" that I removed with alcohol. The coil layers had started to seperate, so I wrpped those with tape to prevent any further movement. The wires are enamel coated and any vibration may short them out. I didn't want that to happen. It seems to...

A clock restoration, and a new (old) electric range.

The bulbs that were in the clock are marked 7.5 watts. The reason I went with the cfl's is the whiteness (the clock face has some discoloration that shows under regular light), and the heat factor. Do I know the age of the range? I can only guess on that. I have two owners manuals. One was...

Thanks Phil. No the clock in #15 is a picture of one I copied from an auction site for reference. The stainless steel ring on mine shows up in the office picture.

Maybe I'll hang it above my new (to me) Universal electric range. When that's finished....ain't started that yet.
