New video: my collection (with the USA contingent in their final placements)

Hello Leon An impressive collection by any sense of the word. Looks nice. Can't imagine having a container shipped from the US to Australia. Must have been an undertaking. You mentioned the avocado 906 being a work in progress. What's going on with that, if you don't mind. How do you deal with...

Thank godness for the internet, furnace repair.

And those inducer fans. What a pain. Always going bad. Have to watch them like a hawk to make sure they're oiled properly. And even then the bushing closest to the combustion chamber gets exposed to humidity and goes bad sometimes. How did we ever live w/o those things. Now they're on water...

    Maytag "Newton" Washer Whisperer Needed

Clockwise is the right direction. It's reverse threads. Are you using a mini-sledge or a rubber covered mallet? The first time I did it I used a rubber covered mallet. I didn't know what I was doing. I went out and got a mini-sledge and banged it and it came loose. Just be careful not to hit the...

    She's just so damn pretty

Beautiful, Ken. I wish we still made stuff like that today. Now all we make is junk so people pay junk prices (except for one company). Too bad you'll probably never find its mate. Congrats.

Something new has been added! Tarting up my Maytag

John, I didn't read Launderess's text closely enough. I didn't realize the spline was missing. I was mostly looking at the pictures, which show a spline, so I assumed it was there.

Something new has been added! Tarting up my Maytag

Good Morning, Launderess, I was noticing the cracks along the barrel of the agitator in your photo. They seem to be on exact opposite sides of the barrel. One might be able to place some type of spreading device down in the barrel of the agitator, spread it just a bit, place some old towels or...

That's a nice 806 pair. Hope someone takes them, as the fellow was nice enough to save them from the scrappers.

    Maytag A606 Stopped Agitating

You mean like this, Tim? I wish that video was made with the '66-'68 (?) older style timer. I just noticed the date code on the motor in that video. It's January 1972, so the machine was probably made sometime in 1972.[this post was last edited: 11/5/2016-02:35]

    KitchenAid Appliance Labels Covered

I've noticed on "Martha Bakes" that KitchenAid appliances such as mixers and maybe dishwashers have their brand labels covered with tape. If I recall correctly the labels weren't covered a few years back. I wonder what changed?

    Early Village People

Just guessing here, but I assume it was similar to the fluid drive in a Speed Queen, for spin only with one directional motor. Seems like all the car companies were in the appliance game too.

    What kind of ranges

I don't know about all of those statements above but I do know an electric element will heat up faster and boil water quicker than anything.

    KDS-20 / never used twice / $175 / Palm Springs-Hemet area, CA

Yes, those are storm windows on that house. That house is in Columbia, MO. It's my neighbor's house, that's my pick-up and that dishwasher is installed in my parent's house. Someone has been busy lifting pictures and using them for their CL add. The last two pictures in that add were pictures I...
