What was the last year the Maytag 806 dryer manufactured?

Floyde, Mark is right. The *06 and *08 dryers are different. Completely different designs internally. The *06 dryers had a standing pilot light which caused corrosion. Some here either turn off the p/l when not in use or convert the dryer to electronic ignition. Another thing. The *06 gas...

    Ammonia in Laundry

Tom, That's the same recipe my mother gave me for all-purpose cleaner except she uses a Tbsp of dish liquid instead of a Tsp. You're right and it works great. Better that the stuff one buys in the store and cheaper too. The color in the dish liquid usually supplies the color. Put it in a good...

    Ammonia in Laundry

Ammonia in cool, lukewarm, or warm water (not too hot) is good for removing blood stains. I've heard hot water can set blood. I think a light soapy solution w/ ammonia can also be good in hot water extraction machines for removing wine or blood stains from carpet too. Something about ammonia...

    Goodman AC getting a workout

No. Can't do that. I have trouble sleeping at night when the air goes off. I start sweating in bed. Have a heat rash on my upper chest. Controlling it well with Tea Tree oil though.

    Goodman AC getting a workout

The air conditioner has been running non-stop here all day. It's 96 degrees here and has been in the upper 90's all week. Not as bad as 1980 but if it keeps up it could be. It would have to jump into the 100's and stay there for weeks to beat 1980.

GE Appliances wants to turn your design ideas into new products

China's population is nearly 1,400,000,000 with India not far behind at nearly 1,350,000,000. It seems Asia is the biggest problem so why should they be dictating anything to us? Sorry. I realize this wasn't supposed to be the original concept of this thread. Here's what's really going on. This...

Maytag wringer and a huge wash today

If you want a Maytag automatic, install a toggle switch on the back of the machine, splice into the timer moter leads, hook them up to the switch and you can extend any part of a cycle you like. The machine becomes a semi-automatic at that point, when you use the switch, but it will do what you...

KDS-18 - looking for info on the door seal

Does this look like what your problem might be? (Link) As far as the leak around the bi-metals that open the detergent dispenser doors, the bi-metals don't leak. The door pins or hinges that are spring loaded from the back side can leak, as well as the gasket that surrounds the whole dispenser...

    STPP Source?

Launderess wins again. I was just going to say, it's not the phosphates that create the suds, it's detergent added to soft water, combined with agitation that creates the suds. Sometimes I have cleaned things with just soft water and some heat with not adding detergent at all and got good results.

It was not meant to be...

What a horrible thing, Louie. Don't ever trust carts if the item doesn't fit down inside the cart and protected. Little good that does you now but just saying. I always carry items that don't fit in carts or find another way to move them. You never know when something on the floor jams a wheel...

    Is my Kenmore worth saving

David, Have you looked into what caused the motor to fail? If it was something other than just a bad motor or start switch, a new motor might fail again. Brian

I Would Like to Make a Statement

Over the past couple of days I have made inflammatory remarks toward John Lefever that I regret. I sent a personal message through the web site today and apologized to him. I think it was hurting me more than it was him. At least I hope so. I have said a few things here in the past that...

Refering to Thread #66283/ Post #888985/ Reply #8

This post seems to elude to a sense of entitlement that some members seem to have on AW.org - A sense of entitlement that seems out of place here or portrays some as being self-important. I'll admit when the odd thread is started by someone that seems to be digging for information without really...

    Nit picking a washing machine.

To nit pick a thread, it's not impossible to produce a decent washing machine, it's been regulated out of existence by bureaucrats and bean counters at corporations. I understand what you meant though.

    KitchenAid KDS-20 Rinse aid dispenser

I'll add one thing, Ralph. If you have the front panel off while the machine is running, during the final rinse you will see the little plastic rod on top of the dispenser slowly raise and lower, releasing the rinse agent. No equipment needed. Just a watchful eye.

    Wanted: Parts for Kitchenaid KDS60

Look through Ephemra under KitchenAid. There you will find downloadable versions of the owners and service manual for the KS-20 series which will cover most things you need to know for your KDS-60, which is essentially the same machine. Finding parts will probably be another story. Watch Ebay...

    1966 Maytag A806S - suds return video

Don,   That's kinda what I thought when I heard you guys talking in the background about it advancing. I'll venture a guess and say it probably pauses through the Pre-Wash/Soak part of the cycle, which would take several minutes, and then starts up again at the wash section. That's actually...
