    Dryer wiring question, 115 volts.

Dryers that will work with both 120 and 240 volts are typically marked on the patent plate that lists the volts and amps. My own 1976 westy DE503PD is marked: 23 amp 120/240V 3 wire 20 amp 120/208V 3 wire 14 amp 120Volts 2 wire The "wires" on this plate are the non-grounds; ie active wires...

Chlorine bleach... How to use it?

Here I just wash out blood stains by hand with cold water. The "trick" is to do it immediately, waiting until dry makes the task longer. My bias is to never used liquid chlorine bleach on a blood stain. You really want the stain out before a bad wash dry attempt. drying sets the stain.

GOOD ADVICE! RE "First and foremost it comes down to whom is preparing the item for shipment. Unless the thing is done correctly no matter who shifts it there is a chance for damage. Too many eBay sellers for instance cheap out on packing materials and or doing the job right, and the result...

Have We Determined How To Unblacken Aluminum?

A used replacement via ebay might be nil in cost In my the aluminum cooking stuff that went under in Katrina's salt water, much got to be pitted and spotted. A *NON* metallic pad is what I used to fix some, ie scotch bright type pads, or just sand paper. Often many cheap Aluminum items are...

    Another one exploads again, BOOOM!!

Re : "just remember 8! machines exploded, not 8000000... ...yes, but how many exploding drums in Miele, Bosch, Zanussi or even Indesit machines do you hear of in comparison?" Here in the states, the better/great makers of consumer items sometimes just buy back the ruined item to keep up a...

RE "Craters and Freighters wants $489.00, which seems high to me. This item only weighs about 50 lbs and is 57" X 41" X 11" You leave out many details. Is this the cost to crate and ship; or just to crate. You do not mention where the seller is, thus part of that 489 might be the cost to...

    Vintage Philco Reversing Door Fridge

A unit like that from the 1950's probably has thicker steel in its skins/sides compared todays units. Thus all that rust is not probably through. If enterprizing one could just use the evap and cond and compressor from a more modern unit

The freon lines are often cut to legally remove the freon for recycling. It is also an easy way to scrap one out, ie make it so it has to be replaced because it is now tougher to fix. Folks also do this to remove the copper for recycling. In recycling one often uses a bag to capture the...

    Vintage Philco Reversing Door Fridge

MY vote is the thing was not abused when actually in working usage. ie It just got "abused" after it got hauled outside to rot and rust; like most all stuff that is scrapped and sits outside for eons. The same thing happens with old stoves, mowers, washers and dryers. Once they sit outside as...
