Best Way To Clean A Motor

What year? Hate to put this on others, but frankly, I'm just not paying for subscriptions to use the date-finder on sites like appliance411 now. Anyone else who can tell when this one was made?

Best Way To Clean A Motor

I have a Magic Chef (Whirlpool) direct drive that was found sitting in a shed for years and as a result, the motor is full of caked on dust around the windings and stuff like that. I've already cleaned everything else up for the most part. I would however like to know the best way to get that...

    Direct Drive Pump Question

They had those on the real high-end machines. Whirlpool/Kenmore Catalysts definitely had them, the older Kenmore 90 Plus series machines also had them. Partially to reduce noise, partially to prevent back-siphoning. Even some older gray pumps had the flap, E.G. older Kitchenaids would have...

Can anyone tell me the date on this washer motor?

I have a motor that I believe is going bad on a Whirlpool direct drive washer. Looks like a newer motor replacement on an older machine, but gets way too hot when ran, and now it won't even start without manually turning it. Capacitor has been tested and is good. But I'll replace that anyways...

My dream KitchenAid washer is finally a reality

Very nice find indeed! Not bad at all. That machine is in decent condition for it's age. Not too much rust to speak of, besides what you already pointed out of course. The bleach dispenser is rare to see that without any rust around the edges. That would indicate it was likely never used in...

What did I do to my gearcase?

In any case, not having those parts in either of those transmissions never seemed to affect the way they ran. Always ran and sounded totally fine to me.

What did I do to my gearcase?

When I pulled apart the transmission out of the 86 Kenmore I had, I never found either a disk or a ball in the hole they go into. My 92 machine had the ball, but I never found a disk that originally went in it. I wonder if perhaps they were indeed both serviced some point in their past life?

    question about the direct drive

Brake shoes generally should have a decent amount of resistance to them. Shouldn't need the tub either for neutral drain.

    Washer basket conundrum

I bought this used basket from a store a few weeks ago. Came with some rust on the bottom & center-post, so I had to do some wire wheeling/angle grinding. I wish I would have asked about this before I already pulled the trigger. I need some advice on the best paint to use to seal and protect...

    question about the direct drive

Soo, I'm confused: What exactly was the question?

Picked up yesterday: Kenmore 80 series DD

This one was just $35 a couple towns over from me so I said "why not?" This may make a good donor machine to our 70 series, or maybe I'll just fix it up and resell it. Needs a new basket, is the first thing I found right off the bat. I'll hook it up and test it though to see how everything...

Funny whim that came to me:

Matt: The belt drive is sitting off to the side for right now until I can figure out a solution to get it hooked up semi-permanently. Plus, I still have to fix the leaks on it. Need to source a new pump and then figure out where it's leaking from on the tub.

Funny whim that came to me:

Yes, AND you would have to get it so that all the small slots and tabs for the hardware is rigid enough to not break off overtime.

Funny whim that came to me:

I do wonder if it's possible to build a wooden cabinet for one of these older machines? E.G. an 80s Whirlpool BD/DD with a cabinet made completely out of wood that's maybe polished and lacquered. Probably would have been a special order thing for some elderly person in the 80s or 90s lol. Any...

Introducing: 1982 Kenmore 70 Series Belt Drive In Harvest Gold!!!!

In other news, the main basket drive pulley sounds rough when running. Bearing failure maybe?
