Hungry for Hungarian - Making Chicken Paprikash

Wow! That looks good!  It's suppose to be cold here in the foothills with possible snow in the mountians this weekend.  I'll be making this Saturday night for supper.  I may have to "Southernize" it just a bit!  Thank you.  Jim

    New Electric Razor Reccomendations

Glad you started this thread! I've always used a Norelco myself...until about 5 years ago when my last one died.  Since my early 20's I've only trimmed around my beard so I went back to shaving with a blade.  I had a skin cancer taken off my temple December 10th and I had to shave most of my...

    Fried Chicken

I have two methods of frying chicken... The method my Mama taught me and Paula Deen's method.  For both methods I use Mama's well seasoned 70+ y/o cast iron skillet or Mama's 1970's Sunbeam electric skillet - depends upon how much chicken I'm frying.  And like Whirlcool, I use peanut oil.  For...

    Hot Water Heaters

It's a "water heater," not a "hot water heat Around these parts you're also likely to also hear someone say "Put some cold Cokes in the ice box!"  Logically speaking, why would you place a Coca-Cola inside a refrigerator to get cold if it is already cold?  Just a colloquilism.

    Christmas Dinner

I'm doing a rib roast, potatoes which are boiled for about 5 minutes, the skins removed, then scraped with  fork tines to make them krinkled.  Next you add the potatoes to the bottom of the pan you are roasting the rib roast in (right there in the juices and salt!) during the last hour of...

Breakfast for Dinner - Making Corn Pancakes with Bacon

I love having breakfast for dinner also!   My Mama used to make fried potatoes and onions also.  She would cut them up, season them, then dredge them in flour before frying them.  I can still taste them.  Don't know about the rest of the South, but here in SC we love our shrimp and grits for...

    Gender-Neutral Easy-Bake Oven

Confession time I wanted an easy bake oven when I was a kid but did not DARE ask Santa for one.  I was already teased enough for doing the laundry!  Fortunately, my neice Stacey (approx. my age) got one for Christmas.  She and I had a ball with it!

Camera Collectors: evaluation on this Kodak Brownie etc

Nice camera Pete! I have my parent's  Kodak Brownie box camera that looks just like yours.   I also have a huge Wolverine boot box full of pictures made over the years with that camera.  It really made good pictures.  Thanks for showing us the box!  I wish I had the box their camera came in.  Jim

    Another automatic roaster question

Thanks everyone... for your advise!  I'm looking at a Hamilton Beach at Wal-Mart and one at Macy's (but I can't recall the name of it).  I'm thinking I saw a Kenmore at K-mart...but I might be mistaken.  Sounds like it would be a great investment for sure!

    KitchenAid Stand Mixer Scraper

My wife's has the rubber scraper on one side only.  She and I both love it!  It does a great job at keeping the sides of the bowl scraped.  We purchased it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond last summer.

    Food Processor Bread

Thanks for the recipes fellas!  I've been hankering for some homemade bread.  My wife and I have a KitchenAid FP she bought from QVC last summer.  It has the adjustable slice adjustment on the outside.  We've been well pleased with it.  Before that we had a Hamilton Beach which was a gift back...

    Another automatic roaster question

I've been reading these posts about automatic roasters.  My wife and I have seriously considered purchasing one.  Would one of the automatic roasters be good for roasting a rib roast in?  Thank you.  Jim

Need a good traditional apple pie recipe

I use Jonagold or Golden Delicious apples Hey Kelly,  Do you just use one or the other Jonagold or Golden Delicious?  My Mama always used Winesap apples and I've never thought about using any other variety in apple pies.  I must confess, though, my apple pies come from the grocer's freezer case...

An easy (but good) stew recipe needed.

Coca Cola Stew Hey Louis, I've tried a similar Coke stew recipe and it is good!  Another Coca Cola recipe I like is for barbecued chicken. Place chicken breasts ( on the bone with skin) in a baking dish and cover with 1 can Coke and 1 Cup ketchup which have been combined.  Cover with foil and...

    70s Tricity Microwave score :-)

Very nice! This looks very much like the Tappan microwave my mother-in-law gave my wife and me back when we first got together in 1989.  Congratulations on a great find!

Avacado Kenmore 900 Set in Detroit

The Vari Flex agitator on my Mama's 1971 Lady Kenmore washer worked great!  A while back RevinKevin had posted a clip demonstrating one of the Vari Flex agitators on one of his machines.  It really pulles the clothes thru the water.
