Kelvinator fridge compressor very strange symptom!

This one had me baffled. Talked to the owner on several occasions and he finally brought it in for checking out.  As the thermostat became worn, it started glitching and interrupting power for a split second toward the end of the cycle. This glitching would cause the compressor to start banging...

    "Smart car"...

These are an unmitigated piece of shit. Not worth the paint sprayed upon it.

Frigidaire range clock motor help please!

Hi Ralph. Thank you for the information! The timer is marked International Register Co. if I am seeing it correctly in my pictures from yesterday. Will look again today when out at my shop.

Frigidaire range clock motor help please!

So; I'm trying to get this Frigidaire stove working correctly. I was going to try to relubricate the timer motor to get it going, however, when I took the cover off I was shocked to find the motor is missing! If I had an old motor I could probably come up with something. However, with the motor...

    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

Hi Austin, it does indeed do a spray rinse after the wash cycle. Just after the wash cycle ends, it begins the spin and drain cycle. Once the spin is up to speed, it sprays water into the spin cycle for a few minutes, then spins without spraying for another few minutes; before it stops spinning...

The largest dryer whirlpool ever produced for home use

John, I love the window modification! What a cool (or hot, rather) project!    Interesting about the lint separation system. Where could I learn more about that?

    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

Austin, I don't think it has a dedicated button for spin-rinse; however it does rinse during the first half of the spin cycle. Maybe a better way to say it is, it has spin-rinse but you can't turn it off.

    Lightburn Big Twin

Glad to see an update on this Lightburn washer. I had never seen a wash wand design before this. Very cool!  It looks solidly built. Sincerely, David

    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

Thanks to all for the comments and information. Much appreciated. I did replace the dryer belt and washer drive belt, plus oil both motors and all of the rollers and idlers which have Oilite bushings. As John said, the pump belt was still fine, and because I couldn't get one locally I left it in...

    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

Melvin, the display faces have 1986 dates on them. The washer has no date newer than 1986 that I have seen yet. The dryer has a few 1987 codes, such as the molding mark on the blower wheel. This makes me think the pair was probably sold as a 1987 or 1988 set. Someone more learned than I may be...

    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

Sean, yes that's the problem I'm referring to. I have a problem where I can't be down for too long since the nearest place I can do laundry is a long way away. I wasn't able to find a transmission which was "for sure" correct for my Kenmore. That sort of put me off from trying to fix it...

    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

So; I went ahead and committed to these today. Will share more when I get them home.  Plan to lubricate the motor bearings and any bearings which can be oiled, change belts, and see about the washer transmission oil. I say "see about" because I seem to remember someone saying it may be a bad...

    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

Hi folks. I am posting this from my phone so forgive any formatting errors or oddness. I'm not a smartphone guy but I'm using what I have. Anyway, I have found a matching speed queen washer and dryer with a touch panel control. I'm going to attempt to attach pictures. I can get the pair for...

A Maytag A806: with a couple of Australian modifications

Very nice job! Nice job! It's great to have native voltage parts with no need for a transformer. That stainless basket is nice, too! No complaints about your LED modification; but I wonder what would be necessary to change over the original lamp to 240V? I would assume it had a preheat fixture...

New compressor for vintage fridge? Embraco engineering sample...

A few years back, I got an "engineering sample" new Embraco compressor from eBay. It has a large glass window in the side of it, with the oil level marked. Ran across it recently and decided to make a project with it. No specifications known so I had to guess and still may not have the capillary...
