What is your favorite washing machine?

Solid Tub Filter-Flo My favorite washer is the solid tub GE Filter-Flo. My Mom had a 1960 model, which she used until 1968. She got a new Filter-Flo and gave it old one to my Grandmother, who used it for twenty more years!!! (It was still working when she died.)

    Wash-in at Jon Charles

Hadn't seen this one... I need to get to a wash in again. The last one was in 2010. I haven't been out much since Covid. About two years ago I suffered a brain hemorrhage and nearly died; it took months, but I recovered and was able to go back to work. Someday soon I'd love to get to a...

what would be your dream vintage washer to own or add to your collection in 2023?

GE Filter-Flo from 1957-1959 Of several possibilities, I'll say the 1957-59 GE Filter-flo. (My Mom had a 1960.) I like the copper patina filter pan and the pink (1957-58) or seafoam (1959) agitator cap and recirc flume. The 1960 had the black flume and the green plastic filter pan. Probably...

What is your favorite washing machine?

Ancient Filter-Flo My favorite washer would be the any of the 1957-1959 GE Filter-Flo machines. I like the copper-patina filter pan with the pink or seafoam green agitator cap that matches the Flo flume. My Mom had a 1960 model, which I fondly remember, but it had "only" a plastic filter pan...

You Tube: I Washed My Clothes With 60 Year Old Detergent in A 40 Year Old Washer

A guy at a furniture store washed a load of jeans in an early 1970s vintage solid tub Speed Queen with 60-Year Old Tide Detergent; it was a full cycle. He showed the results and seemed to know what he was talking about. He has a series of related videos, including a "ketchup test" (to gauge the...

POD A Great Way to Start the New Year I agree with brucelucenta. A POD that gets the New Year off to a great start -- an innovative washer that did it's job extremely well and was fun to use and observe. I bid this New Year a great one for all the Automatic Washer Club members and their...

    HEPA Filter Device

Has anyone had any recent experiences with a HEPA filtering device? I bought a Honeywell HEPA device (resembles a circular floor fan) for my wife in 2005. It's been a good one but has seen better days. It cost $180.00. Honeywell doesn't make that model anymore. My wife has done some research...

A time capsule opened and look what was inside...

Engine in the 1969 Plymouth It's a 383 2 barrel with 290 horsepower -- a strong, smooth running and reasonably economical engine. The base was a 318 V8 or 225 slant six. The 4 barrel 330 horse power 383 had an unsilenced air cleaner and was actually somewhat temperamental. The Super Commando...
