    Kitchen Aid DW issue

My mom texted me last night to ask my opinion on whether or not to replace her KA dishwasher that wasn't working. I told her it was probably worth having it looked at rather than replacing. The machine is a MOL unit (sorry, I don't have the model#), no Power Scrub jets in the back. She says...

How about an electric car? BMW i3 for me

Saw one on the road! Out running errands on Saturday, I spotted an i3 in the oncoming lane and exclaimed on the fact. This of course required an explanation of what it was to which hubby responded, "it's pretty!". So there you go! For the record, he doesn't have my quirky sense of automotive...

How about an electric car? BMW i3 for me

Paging drhardee Dave-- This link popped up in one of my feeds today. There's a software update for the i3 with the range extender. Happy motoring! http://www.autoblog.com/2015/03/12/bmw-i3-with-range-extender-glitch-software-update/

How about an electric car? BMW i3 for me

Very nice! I haven't had an opportunity to look at the i3 in person yet, but the pics I've seen online are pretty cool. (But, I like Citroens and Gremlins, so...) I drive a Lexus CT hybrid and am completely addicted to the gas mileage, so an electric car would totally appeal to me, but even...

    What's for dinner?

Louis, Your pie looks good too! American restaurants are known for enormous servings of food, which helps explain why we're so fat over here. Case in point, The Cheesecake Factory has an Asian-style cashew chicken dish that I love. I eat until I am stuffed, and still take home enough...

    What's for dinner?

This was Monday's dinner also, last night's leftovers. Hubby was on a business trip, so I got to make some *real* food! Quiche with Canadian bacon, Swiss and Gruyere.

    Laverne and shirleys apt.

the Brady stove Having just binged on the entire series of The Brady Bunch on DVD, I can attest that the yellow gas cooktop was only in the 5th (final) season. The oven got changed out that same season as well. I don't know why except to speculate that the stainless Thermador set up, while...

Help ID applicnces in this kitchen

The bath Our 1961 house has a similar tub and what looks like the same toilet, only in gray. Our tub, though, doesn't have the bump-out in the side and the tub cavity is actually angled a bit diagonally within the footprint of the tub fixture. The toilet tank in the picture looks like a flat...

    Has anyone seen "The DUFF"?

Actually went out to a movie this weekend! We saw "The DUFF", and really enjoyed it, even though it's a 'high school' story. (Robbie Amell's frequent shirtlessness didn't hurt, either.) But what I need to know...What is that gorgeous fridge in Bianca's kitchen? I couldn't tell if it was...

    LG Front Loaders

I don't think there is an adjustment for the water level (at least not for the consumer to do). The water level adjust itself automatically for the size of the load. Gentle and especially Hand Wash seem to give a bigger fill relative to the size of the load, which makes sense.

    LG Front Loaders

Stricklybojack, AMEN! I cringe when I hear/feel a new car door and/or handle that has that hollow, tinny sound like a '78 Mitsu-Plymouth Arrow. No different for appliances. I've been on the lookout for a hand mixer for a while now, but all I ever see in stores is so cheap and shoddy looking...

    LG Front Loaders

Mark-- I didn't know this model had been discontinued...I got my current pair from Home Depot in December of 2009. I also love the look of the rear-panel LGs, but the dispenser is really what tipped it for me (especially when I re-upped with a new pair when we moved). The pull-out dispenser...

    Westinghouse Terrace-Top

Wow, Kevin--that looks EXACTLY as I remember ours looking. I don't know if you are dating yours older than it is, or if they didn't change them between '63 and the late '60s. My folks bought a complete set of Westinghouse appliances, as I mentioned above. I *think* it was when they bought...

    Westinghouse Terrace-Top

Aaaahhhhhh YESSSSS! Thanks, Petek! That is exactly like Mom's old stove. I remember now that it wasn't a metal trim strip, it fully lined the inner wall of the sides! That was a lovely design, IMO. Simple elegance, but far from plain. Hans--truth be told, mine is ruined as well, but I'd...

    Westinghouse Terrace-Top

Hey, Dave--too bad about the fire on the one you saw. I do remember now, that the oven vented through one of the rear burners (back left, I think?) Thanks for the tip, Hans...I will have to be judicious about my Cavalcade searching...they can be a bit TOO inspiring for my waistline :)

    Westinghouse Terrace-Top

I haven't seen any mention of the Westinghouse Terrace-Top range in my time on here. I'm thinking it may be a bit of an unsung gem, eclipsed by the razzle-dazzle of the Frigidaire Flair and the push-of-a-button modernity of GE? My parents bought a set of new Westinghouse appliances (range...

    LG Front Loaders

Love my LG machines I have the LG WM0642 and matching dryer similar to the photo. This is my second set--the first set stayed with the house we sold, so I bought a new set of the same model for the new house. That's a pretty good testimonial, I think. I've never had an issue with cleaning...

The Maytag Dishwasher Big Blue Binder

Pic #11 in the first post That control panel looks like the model my mom had, purchased around 1979-80. Hers was a convertible portable with the butcher block top. As I recall, she followed all the instructions for seasoning the butcher block--rubbing in mineral oil and whatever other...

I just got 1970 Frigidaire range.

Amazing! That is a beauty! And I love that it's not just Frigidaire, it's Frigidaire CANADA!

But I LIKE the "gearless" shifting of a CVT.

CVT First off, Joe--congrats on that response from Subaru! Or maybe congrats to Subaru for making an owner feel listened to and valued.... Second, my daily driver is a 2012 (bought new) Lexus CT200h Hybrid (same powertrain as the Prius, but a very different body). I love it. I don't really...
