I've heard of International Harvester trucks, but refrigerators too?

IH My grandparents had an enormous International Harvester deep freezer at their lake cottage, which I found a little fascinating since my dad drove a lot of IH Scouts back then.

    Appliances at neighbors houses?

Haven't been in too many of our neighbors' houses, but we do have friends in town whose kitchen still has some of the 80's black appliances (Whirlpool sxs and trash compactor) even though the kitchen and some other appliances have been updated. Growing up (70's) was another story for me as...

    Interesting Survey Courtesy of DataLounge.com

For the longest time we had a set of stoneware dishes from SuperValu. In fact, my mom still has a few odd pieces left. When I was young, my grandparents owned a grocery store and they had all sorts of stuff in their house and their lake cottage that was leftover from giveaways: an inflatable...

Gas stove replacement: Any reason to buy new?

Vintage stoves While trying to find info on Western Holly gas ovens (the porthole-windowed oven in Dr. Masters' kitchen on 'Masters of Sex') I stumbled upon dreamstoves.com who sell vintage ranges including Western Holly, O'Keefe & Merritt and others. IIRC, they are in the Sacramento area. No...

    Vintage laundry room ideas ...

As long as you aren't going for *authentic* vintage--that would be quite at odds with bright, cheery and not shut away! Not trying to be Negative Nellie here--honest. Just, when I think of where vintage machines would have been placed when they were new, well...I think of dingy basements...

Opinions? Best cheap new toploader - US made?

FWIW My mother bought a mid-range Kenmore TL and dryer (probably 5 years ago or less) to replace a "small cube" Frigidaire FL pair. She's been pleased with it and it's been reliable. The only drawback to me is the very loud, very harsh buzzer for the end of cycle--but I think that's on the...

    More appliances on TV

Western Holly I imagine the show is filmed on the west coast somewhere, so that isn't surprising. If anyone watched the AMC show Halt and Catch Fire over the summer, I ALMOST had a connection to it! My husband's aunt recently told me that when they were selling her father's house after he...

    Corning, Corelle, and Pyrex thread

Wheaton Ware My latest addition: Wheaton Ware accessories like my mom had when I was a kid! I love the plastic caps for the salt and pepper shakers, and the plastic sealer-liner for the sugar bowl lid.

    More appliances on TV

Great show! I don't know if "great" adequately covers seeing Maggie Sheffield from The Nanny as a big, scary ho! I can't take too much credit for ID-ing the Norge. I initially thought the logo looked like the swirl-topped 'W' for Whirlpool, but then it nagged at me that the vintage would have...

    More appliances on TV

Just beginning to watch Showtime's "Masters of Sex" on Blu-ray. Already in love with Dr Masters' MCM house. Check out the Norge Customatic refrigerator in the kitchen of the brothel. And can anyone tell me what brand of wall oven this is in the Masters' kitchen?

Can anyone tell me the year of this fridge?.....

Missing bottom grille Somehow I had completely forgotten that frost-free refrigerators had grilles and drip trays! When I was a kid, I used to take off the grille and check to see if the pan was full all the time. Not even sure why--there was never more than a trace of water in the pan. I...

Remembering Service Stations of the Past

Wow. For no logical reason other than nostalgia, I sure do miss Sohio! (Boron, south of the river!) Some of those old stations were quite the showplaces! And funny to see how some of today's commonplace things had their start so long ago--like self-service and corn alcohol-blended gasoline...

    Corning, Corelle, and Pyrex thread

Tanks Sam! I would love to have more Tupperware. A vintage set of jello molds would be particularly awesome. (Despite never having used the new set I *had* to buy a few years ago.) Sounds like you have quite the collection! :)

    Corning, Corelle, and Pyrex thread

The cutting boards I should probably mention the two cutting boards... The one in good shape was left in the house when we moved in and looks like they knew it was for decoration. The other one came from my mother-in-law. God only knows how much lead paint she fed my husband growing up!

    Corning, Corelle, and Pyrex thread

Tupperware measuring cups The measuring cups came right from my mom's kitchen, and she would have bought them new...or maybe got them as her hostess gift? She also used to have the measuring spoons, and I think her set may have been multicolored as well. I think she might still use those, or...

Corning Ware (and more) My Corning Ware collection (with bonus of my vintage Tupperware and vintage Jenn-Air cooktop). Also some other vintage goodies from around the house.

    What brand is this?

Thanks, Lawrence American Motors owned Kelvinator (which had been part of Nash, one of the car companies that AMC traced its roots to). I'm completely unfamiliar with Bradford.... I was in your neck of the woods last weekend, by the way. Thought I would die from the heat! Finally got nice...

    What brand is this?

Thanks, JeffG I did not know that about the guitar makers--my musical instrument is the iPod. :) From what I can tell (and it's a tiny bit clearer to see when looking at the TV in person than on this photo) it looks like the outline of the crest is essentially the same, but the inner details...

    What brand is this?

Gibson looks like a winner... Thanks, Firedome! I think Gibson looks like it may be the answer. Not a lot of images on the web for Gibsons of the late 60's/early 70's (and I'm not even going to ask why Google gives me Fender guitars when I search for "Gibson refrigerator"). But some of these...

    What brand is this?

Does anyone have a clue what brand of side by side refrigerator this might be? Or is this logo even real? This was snapped from an episode of Bewitched, season 7, after the kitchen set had to be rebuilt because of a fire. Even though GM was still supplying Chevy cars for the show...
