The Finest in Quality and Reliability; GE/Hotpoint

That machine is definitely not operating correctly. That clunking noise it makes while agitating is something that needs to be checked out. Besides that tub indexing like that is another give away that something is wrong. I personally couldn't say what it is but I wouldn't be using it until I...

    Maytag Neptune MAH5500BWW

You could ask Martin (Yogitunes) if he has any advice. He has quite a few Neptune machines in his collection and uses them frequently. I'm sure he would be happy to give you a few pointers for your machine.

Maytag N2L Wringer washer on CL for $25

This machine doesn't have a "drain pump". It's a gravity drain washer. You can tell by the hose on the washer. All the pump wringers that I have seen have a hooked end to the hose so that it will hang onto a laundry tub or sink for pump out while the motor is running.

Well I was washing and this happened

See ....you just had to test the machine and see what happens if you stick your hand in the machine with the basket still moving!!

    Are self checkout lanes rare?

Self service checkouts just went into the Walmart's in this area. The one place they have been popular though is in the grocery stores. The will have a group of them together with one clerk overseeing the terminals and have one line feeding them so the next customer takes whatever comes...

See all the portable Kenmore DWs!

Standard widths for a dishwasher are the 24" models. The 18" are the compacts. I personally would never own an 18" machine. It just doesn't seem to be cost effective to me when you can run a 24" for the same amt. of money. Besides the cost of the actual machines aren't that much different from...

    New toy

Make sure you replace those screens. Don't leave them out. A piece of sediment could get caught up inside the valve causing it to not seal properly and you could have a flood on your hands if that happens.

Vintage silverware & the vintage dishwasher

It's pretty safe to wash your silver plate in a DW provided you use some precautions. You just need to make sure that you keep the different metals separated. If you don't it can cause staining in the metal. The other thing to make sure of is that the dish detergent when dispensed isn't dropped...

Your favorite vintage washer and DW sounds

Best vintage washer- Of course there was the BD WP machine that mom had. She always did the family washing on Monday's and bed linens and towels were done on Thursday's. She was like clockwork with those two days. Besides that, a friend had a Norge 20# with a burpalator. That machine was one...

    Legends of Dishwashing: Whirlpool PowerClean

When I lived in my last apartment I had moved into an old Brownstone and the owner didn't use the third floor except for storage. We converted it into an apartment for me and when we put the kitchen together he purchased a Kenmore badged Whirlpool PC DW. I absolutely loved that machine. The...

    POD 6/3/2017

I didn't know that Westinghouse had a center dial TL machine in their line up. Must have been one of the first TL's for them.

    Turquoise kitchen, 20K (Belleville, NJ)

I wonder if it's possible that there was a DW. Possibly where they have the fire extinguisher and trash can tucked in that one pic. It isn't right next to the sink but if one were to stand between the two it would be easy enough to reach

Kenmore dishwasher with weird Upper Rack

I wonder if that utensil rack was purposely set in the lower rack for the photo shoot so you could see into the upper rack when the dishwasher was opened. If the rack was hung off the upper rack where it belongs it would have completely blocked your view into the rack.

Complete PINK kitchen--stove, oven, dishwasher, fridge, washer, dryer (Denver)

that washer and dishwasher aren't original colors but whoever painted them did a good job of matching them up

Older Montgomery Ward Dryer - $25(Dayton, OH area)

that dryer from the first pic looks like it's a WCI machine

FREEE -KA Superba/Hobart - Portable dishwasher (Eastham)

Come on guys....somebody make an attempt to get it.....it's FREEEEEE for pete's sake!!

    The Short Cycle Gallery

I think those letters were an attempt at correlating that machines cycles to the older alphabet washers. Those letters match what would have been the cycle selections in the older machines.

    1985 Whirlpool

The dishwasher can probably scrub the paint off the walls if memory serves me right about those machines. They were good machines at cleaning

Antique Doric Apartment Stove $150 (SF Haight)

very interesting stove. Bet those burners could produce some heat since they are laid out as they are. Only problem I see that could be a P.I.A. is lighting and maintaining the oven at a correct temp since it looks like the valve for the oven is down on the side of the stove.
