2005 Hotpoint oven won't leave self-clean cycle - what to do?

I have a circa 2005 Gas Hotpoint oven and range top that I got with the house. (RGB745WEH8WW) Twice a year I self-clean the oven, and up to now there's been no problem. Day before yesterday, I started the self clean cycle which it performed correctly, however, later in the day, when I went to...

Dr. Frankenstein, your Expresso is ready for pickup.

I want to thank everybody that chimed in on this. You could have knocked me over with a feather. I would NEVER have imagined that this contraption was actually to serve coffee. It was certainly a vacuum immersion device, but I was sure it was from a chemical lab. You really do learn something...

Starching Shirt Collars, tips and techniques?

I've worked most of my life blue collar, however, I'm finding myself in more formal settings lately. Not full shirt and tie, but more "sporty casual". I'm noticing that my shirts would look better if the collars were starched to keep their shape .... otherwise they curl up into little canoes...

Dr. Frankenstein, your Expresso is ready for pickup.

This contraption is for sale in the Chattanooga area. It's being billed as a coffee maker, and although it seems to have all the parts for a vacuum brewer, I am wondering if it is, in fact, a piece of laboratory equipment.... any thoughts? I just don't see how it makes for a practical coffee...

The Knives are out, but what do I use them for?

Here are three knives from the back of my kitchen drawer. What are they for? I think the top knife is for tomatoes I think the middle knife is a steak/meat knife. I think the bottom knife is from the age when whole cooked fish were presented at the table and the carcass was cut into filets in...

    Postum Problems

Does anybody remember Postum? It was a coffee-substute that was rather popular once upon a time. Being a 60's baby I remembering it being on restaurant menus when I was a kid, but of course never tried it and by the 80's it had waned and I lost track of the drink. A few years ago I went on a...

    Beautiful 1940's Maytag Gyratator

I believe the "S" means that it is a "Safety" model. On older models the wringer rollers turned over continuously while turned on, but on the S models, there was a floor switch (Actually a rubber squeeze bulb) that the operator had to stand on continuously for the rollers to roll. The idea was...

    Fare-thee-well oh crock pot mine?

The deed is done ... its race is run. Thanks to everybody for their input on this. The crock insert has been put in the trash and the cooker element is going to the scrapper this week. I have a mid-70s crock pot that works just fine. I'll dig it out and just be happy with my harvest gold Rival.

    Fare-thee-well oh crock pot mine?

Many years ago, my Mom purchased an Emril slow cooker off QVC which I inherited. It's actually worked beautifully, and I especially like the fact that the crockery cooking bowl comes out for cleaning. Unfortunately, I've also discovered it has a huge "T" shaped crack in the bottom of the...

    Recommendation for an indoor fly-zapper?

Hi Bud, thanks for your pointless answer. Thanks Bud, for your unfriendly, unkind and unhelpful answer. If you had read my post, you should have realized that I did in fact perform internet searches which were giving unsatisfactory answers.   I have found that many on this board have insights...

    Recommendation for an indoor fly-zapper?

Summer is coming and with it the flies. Does anybody have a brand specific recommendation for an indoor fly zapper?   Home Depot and that squad only seem to carry out door units that drop the dead flies onto the ground  (they also explicitly say "out door only" and I'm worried about the UV...
