    Dawn Ruined By P&G

I’m a little late to this thread, but a couple of other things that have had recent scent changes: Irish Spring Original Deodorant Soap (about 2 years ago). Caress Beauty Bars. This is one I’ve been using since childhood, and I’m really upset about the change. It has a horrible, sweet mixed...

Persil Powder gets a rave review

Well I just tried a Power Wash cycle with a black comforter to see what would happen. I used hot water (which I’ve only been using with this powder), added a 1/4 cup of detergent, let the machine start filling with water, then added the comforter. I chose “regular” soil level and 2 rinses, deep...

Persil Powder gets a rave review

Frigilux- I’m jealous! :D GELaundry4ever- my washer does have a “Power Wash” cycle which I have never used, but I bet that would work. So far I’ve been using the Whites cycle with hot water and the “deep rinse”, and the powder seems to be dissolving. I just finished a load in this cycle with...

    What foods do you DESPISE!

How about Head Cheese? When I was a child, things like this were served, and also fatty meats. To this day things like that gross me out. I also don’t like Chicken Wings. The bones & skin get to me. However, I do okay with many fish, and pretty much all vegetables.

    dishwasher detergent fragrance

This lemon scented Smartly powder just arrived today. It has a lemony, European washing powder type of a scent. I love the scent of laundry powders like Henkel “E”, and this scent is sort of like that, but more lemony. The reviews on the Target website are mixed, so we’ll see. If it’s...

Persil Powder gets a rave review

Ahhhh..I see. The one I have contains polycarboxylate polymers and bisphosphonates. And that makes sense about them making the different detergents for various water conditions.

Persil Powder gets a rave review

Which is interesting because from what I’m reading, companies usually use zeolites in place of phosphates, right? I didn’t notice the phosphates before, but translating sections of that ingredient list, it does have both..

Persil Powder gets a rave review

It looks like the one I have is from Henkel, made in Poland. I don’t see German on there, but there’s Polish, Estonian, Croatian, Russian, Hungarian, Slovak, Latvian and a few other languages, all side by side so a little confusing and harder to make out than the ones all in just English. But...

Persil Powder gets a rave review

I think you are right, Laundress, and I appreciate the info on the zeolites. Today I have quite a bit of laundry to do, and I can already tell the reduced amount of detergent won’t be enough. I also tried an extra “rinse & spin” cycle with the “normal” setting to see if that would do anything...

    My Detergents Arrived

Why is it so incredibly satisfying to see pictures of peoples cleaning products :D? This is my current line up. The Woolite for Darks I use all the time on my own clothes. The Tide liquid I use frequently, and I’m trying to get through that Persil powder. The Zum by Indigo Wild I use...

^ *a smaller amount of Ecover automatic dish powder than I usually use.

Persil Powder gets a rave review

GELaundry4ever- I buy my laundry powders from European/ Polish grocery stores. It can be hit or miss since things are oftentimes sold out, but that’s where I get my Persil and Henkel “E” laundry powders. Tomturbomatic- I ended up getting the STPP off of Amazon as well. It got here yesterday. I...

I bet your vintage Surf is good stuff, Laundress!

Persil Powder gets a rave review

I think I’m going to give the STPP a whirl since I don’t think the reduced amount of laundry detergent I’m using now is going to cut it. Years ago when things first went phosphate free (early 10s?) I recall buying a commercial automatic dish powder with phosphates in it since the phosphate free...

DadoES- thank you for posting that. I’m going to read some of the old threads about STPP.

Persil Powder gets a rave review

^So I’ve settled on dissolving it in hot water in a jar, then adding it to the empty machine and letting it fill with hot water before adding the clothes. Although even with that, I was still getting those awful steaks, but reducing the amount of detergent seems to have helped. Must be those...

Persil Powder gets a rave review

^Thank you, Laundress. I have an American Maytag top loader, and I’ve been using hot water only with the powder. The 1/4 cup that I just tried with a load of towels on a “deep” water cycle and an extra rinse did rinse out. Now I’ll have to see if loads come of clean enough with only that much...

Persil Powder gets a rave review

Also, to add to my comment, the most I fill the clothes is about 1/2 way in the machine, so I don’t believe I’m overloading it..

Persil Powder gets a rave review

Anyone here currently using Persil powder? How much do you use? I purchased a box of the Henkel version recently, and I’m having a terrible time getting it to rinse out of clothes. Leaves streaks. My washing machine is a top loading Maytag, a few years old, with an agitator. I always use hot...

    dishwasher detergent fragrance

One of my favorite scents is lemon, so I love all of the Lemi Shine products. I don’t notice the scent after the dish washer cycle is complete.
