    Speed Queen pair, electronic controls....

Hi David, The reason these end up uneconomical to repair, even back when they were new, was because the lower water seal ends up failing, usually at the 5-10 year mark, it generally starts off slowly and lets just enough water down into the bearing below. By the time you see water under the...

Miele Washing Machine - Mixed Feelings. Help??

My 3xxx machine had that hose blocked when I got it. There were bean bag beans stuck in it. I cleaned it out 10 years ago and haven’t had an issue since. If you like how the machine works once you’ve cleared it, I wouldn’t worry about it.

    The downfall of Philips

It seems to depend on where in the model range you purchase. At least here. Michael bought a new one at Christmas and it was still made in the Netherlands. Over here, the cheap ones feel very cheap and could be made in China, the premium models still feel like they’re made out of titanium...

    What are/were Champion washers?

Hi Gabrielle Bunnings should sell high pressure inlet hoses, plus the fittings you need to make it connect to the tap. If you reuse the existing hoses, turn the water off when you’re done. Don’t use Garden Hose or any tubing from the garden section for the inlet hoses. Bunnings should also...

    Miele noise from worn belt

Thanks Chris, let me know what you find. The issue I had with the electrical conduit is that the corrugations are very square, whereas the Miele hose they're a lot finer. The Square electrical plug on the end of the cord would keep getting stuck regardless of how I tried to fish it through.

    Miele noise from worn belt

Has anyone else had issues with the plastic sheath on the aquastop hoses disintegrating, or is it just our harsh Aussie light that causes it. All of my 2xxx and 3xxx machines have now had it crack and crumble. Miele don’t sell the sheath, it’s it’s $400 for the whole assembly to replace. I...

Repeated Suds locking and Electric smells

I also second checking the vent hose that lets air out of the pump and into the vent pipe to the dispenser. On my w3083 it was blocked with bean bag beans. It’d always drain ok initially, then fail to drain any further once the spin started. You can access it from the front and top, but it’s...

    Garden hoses galore

Adam, most of the Australian market hoses tell you to run water through them, close the nozzle at the end so that it stays full and then lay them out flat in the sun for a few days. The hose in the sun should be hot enough to work out the kinks. If it doesnt, its just a poor quality hose.

    Garden hoses galore

Which google says basically doesnt connect to anything useful in AU. I guess if you want a tube that water comes out of, then your all good. As long as you dont want to connect it to any Aussie fittings or sprinklers. Do they claim to come with all the fittings to give you the ability to...

    Garden hoses galore

Hey Adam, just one thing to think of, is that AU uses BSP, the US uses NPT for pipe threads. I'm assuming that the tap connection is updated to be compatible with BSP, but you may find the other end is quite limited in what you can screw onto it, if its NPT. Good Quality Gardena hoses are...

Speed Queen TR7 with a transmission!

Lighter build, doesnt have to mean lower quality. The traditional style TL machines ended production here for the most part by the mid 80's. Simpson, Westinghouse, FisherPaykel, Hoover all of which had traditionally designed machines, moved to top suspension, pressed steel cabinets with...

Speed Queen TR7 with a transmission!

Jeff, you have to think about whole of life costs. Weight uses energy to ship and energy in materials to build. The bigger something is, the less you fit in a container and therefore the more trucking you need and the more fuel thats consumed. Its a fine balance between Weight, Material type...

    POD 3/16/2023

Thats definitely an Aussie Ad. It was 1966 when we moved to Dollars and Cents. We had huge import tariffs on most things up until the 80's, generally we seemed to end up with previous generation production equipment so our appliances were quite often a generation behind. As an aside, it was...

Miele Twin Dos delayed cheesy smell on items

I'm the same as Jerrod, I use twin dos and find no smell after drying, my amounts were adjusted way down by Miele when they were out doing a service. For our moderately soft water, I have Twin Dos set as follows: Phase 1 24mL Phase 2 18mL Could it be reacting with water chemistry to create a...

    Miele Dishwasher Issues

Have you been playing with the settings on the machine, prior to this starting? I increased the water level on our G6905 and it’s now using 15-25l on a sensor wash. So I’m just wondering whether you’d made any configuration changes prior to this change in consumption. 25l seems to be the upper...

Wow a General Electric AW6 - Down Down Under

In that early post WWII era, These type of appliances were a luxury item in antipodes and the local manufacturing didnt ramp up till the mid to late 50's, Auto washers werent common until the 70's. GE Monitor tops were all shipped as 120v units until the end of the series, they came with an...

Buildup on inside of dishwasher door

Dan, it all depends on the quality of the Stainless. Dishwasher detergents here were chlorinated up until 15 years ago and 99% of dishwashers had stainless tubs. Unless the stainless in US machines is lower quality, this is a fallacy not a fact.

Vulcan Dishlex dishwasher from the 1980s - rinse aid dispenser?

If your running a normal cycle, then just detergent in the cup should be plenty, however if your running a Super or Heavy wash, then you should add a tablespoon of powder to the inside of the door, where it says powder :) Or anywhere. From Memory this is an early model, because it doesnt have...

How to Disassemble Miele T1 Heatpump Dryer

Hi Rod I’ve got an T8000WP and a T8929WP. I love that both of them get clothes fully dry, just like an old condenser. There is no waiting on them to flash dry when you unload the dryer. Both of them had the secondary condenser badly clogged with lint when I got them and would constantly...
